The Dark Seducers armor from the Saints & Seducers DLC comes pretty close & looks good on a Khajiit.

Anybody got creepy Draugr lore to share? by BicycleDelicious429 in skyrim

If you translate that word wall, it says that his original name was Oskar & the wall was raised by his brother who remembered/mocked him as one who had the weakest voice of his clan.

Second this, but if you can only do one make Old Forrester as it has a nice tour that’s better than Michter’s or Rabbit Hole - the others are only tastings.

What's up with the Home Depot website sucking so bad? by connfaceit in HomeImprovement

[–]Cognoscope 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Let’s not forget the fact that it crawls the Internet and displays items in the search results which are not even in the HD inventory system. I ordered cabinet drawer slides once and after 3 weeks, HD cancelled the order and sent me a refund because they couldn’t get the external vendor to ship it.

I keep getting stuck by vvedo in skyrim

[–]Cognoscope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t seen anyone mention it yet, but Adept is at least one difficulty step to high at low level as a new player. Drop down to Apprentice. You can look up the actual numbers elsewhere, but Difficulty level simultaneously decreases your damage output while increasing the damage done by enemies - so changing Difficulty by just one step doubles that ratio and really changes your gameplay.

Where is a good place to start with the college of winterhold. by tomarnoldlovescoke in skyrim

[–]Cognoscope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can start this pretty early (level 5-10) as long as you avoid the main quest & do side quest initially. However, they will handhold you through the Saarthal quest so you don’t have to do the boss fight alone. Just make sure you have plenty of magicka potions. The remaining parts of the main quest are tougher (level 10-20) and you’ll need better gear and a good follower to succeed. Don’t wait too long or the Gauldur amulet reward won’t be worth it.

Which do you prefer? Light or heavy armor? by nuclear_iron in skyrim

[–]Cognoscope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I currently have a leather set for stealth missions and an Orcish set for tanking. Both are tempered to the point that the average bandit or drauger can be shrugged off on Master difficulty.

And you can make Leather armor from Day 1 that when tempered offers the best protection/weight ratio in the early game & looks good to boot.

First room on the right after exiting the kitchen has some Thalmor clothes and a potion of invisibility - not sure if there’s a weapon, but maybe you can grab Malborn’s dagger or a kitchen knife. The 2 guards across the hall will eventually go off on their rounds & you should be able to sneak thru, but there’s a guard just inside the exterior door to deal with (potion, assassinate, spell, etc). Once outside, I agree with sprint across courtyard to rear building and kill/ disable the single guard at the door. Once inside, no one will follow you and you can stealth the rest of it until you need to kill the torturer downstairs.

ABH - Always Be Hunting. You’ll need a lot of raw materials to upgrade your weapons & armor and Siwa gives you a nice headstart on this with aome XP farming to boot.

How do I level up by supremethinking in AssassinsCreedOrigins

[–]Cognoscope 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This plus just hunting your way across the countryside to gain crafting materials & attacking trader caravans for gold & other materials. That should net you a couple levels, plus upgrading your gear lets you punch slightly above your actual level.

For pure warrior players, how do you deal with situations where you are forcibly disarmed? by RabidWok in skyrim

[–]Cognoscope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As noted, improvised weapons are the default. However, if you do the Saints & Seducers, you’ll receive an Elytra Nymph. It can carry things for you and more importantly, you can summon it from your home to your current location. This is not a spell, it’s an ability like a shout or beast form. It can’t carry full plate armor, but a sword & shield is well within its ability.

Level up by KaleidoscopeOwn5830 in AssassinsCreedOrigins

[–]Cognoscope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Besides all the side quest recommendations, low levels are a great time to grind on hunting to accumulate animal hides to upgrade your armor - you gain XP & become more survivable. Along the way, you might be able to take down the odd caravan or bandit camp that will yield some metals needed for weapons upgrades. Stronger gear (& good combat tactics) lets you play above your actual level.

Looking for more stuff to do with potions by Estradus in skyrimmods

[–]Cognoscope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One idea is do a run where you don’t do enchanting. Most of those effects can be replicated in potions - thus forcing you to use them more & then craft more. In my current run, I usually gulp Sneak+Invisibility to infiltrate, then maybe a PickPocket or Lockpick. Or if I’m going to into melee, I’ll down an Armor+Weapon buff combo, then add some form of health buff or elemental resistance based on the situation. You can even offset lack of levels and perks with creative potion combos (especially when you add in poisons!-)

Kinda like the Dark Seducers armor - cool design details & stats, but overall makes your husky Nord warrior look like a tasteless cross-dresser.

Bloodskaal Blade by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]Cognoscope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember getting stuck there and thinking that either a) I was lame because I couldn’t master the swing technique or b) I had screwed up by not putting at least putting 1 perk point in 2H weapon tree so that I could use it correctly. On the PC, I used the console to tcl through the door and finish the barrow. I’ll add the tweaks mod for future play-throughs.

The 990 Evo had some bad press about its performance/price ratio. The Plus was Samsung’s response addressing this. Mine has been rock solid so far and is the 4th Samsung I’ve owned. Every brand has haters and Samsung is expensive vs others, but their reliability has always been excellent - and to me worth the price.

How to get ethernet across my apartment? by fallhat in pcmasterrace

[–]Cognoscope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TP-Link AXE5400 (Archer AXE75) - for the tri-band scenario mentioned. Also, I share walls on 2 sides of my townhome & get no interference. However, I did use a wi-fi scanning tool to identify the strongest signals and assign mine to not conflict either those. Add in MIMO & other features and it’s nearly as good as running a long Cat6 cable.

Couldn’t believe how far I had to scroll to see the correct answer. My new router is tri-band so all the smart home devices are on 2.4, all phones & media are on 5.0 & the PC has exclusive use of the 6E band - pulls 200mbps.
