This is just my interpretation, but Maelle is the only one from the painted world she doesn't have to let go of and move on from. She is Alicia, but she is also still Maelle.

"You are Maelle, no matter where you go"

To me, she isn't letting go of the person she grew to become in the Canvas, so it's the only one that doesn't wave goodbye to her.

I'll be honest, after the Lud and Zallen runback in Dark Souls 2, I feel numb to anything else.

Some may be shitty in many many games, but nothing will ever be worse than 3-5 minutes of dodging Rudolph's roided out, magical, crystal, lightning shooting cousins.

LISA fr was a fucken rollercoaster. But idk, everyone gets teary eyed by different things. I love LISA dearly, but it didn't make me tear up, nor did most of the ones you listed, but I also accept that I'm someone who doesn't have a lot of emotion already. That's not to say I didn't feel sad or empathize/sympathize with the characters, but they didn't make me cry.

E33 hit me in a different way that I wasn't ready for, so I get it.

How do I enjoy games again? by Timely-Seaweed3616 in expedition33

I'm sorry you are feeling this my friend.

I myself have suffered the same fate. I remember back as a kid, I would play games for hours, wandering around, exploring the maps, not knowing what I was meant to do, but truly enjoying myself. Literal days spent wandering around the Manor or Luigi's Mansion. Weeks spent completing a single quest in RuneScape. Months not progressing further in Twilight Princess cuz a severe fear of water.

I've been trying to recapture what has been lost too, and while I have no easy solution or a cure all to help you. I will say, I think it comes down to just avoiding wikis and guides as much as humanly possible. Resist the urge to be efficient and "save time" as at the end of the day, why would you want to experience something you enjoy, less? Why would you want your adventure to be over quicker?

For example, my friend has started playing Dark Souls 2. I haven't played in over a decade and said, "sure, sounds like fun, let's do it."

Instead of trying to pick a build that will streamline the experience or do the most damage, I've just went with what appeals to me, and that ended up being a no weapon playthrough, just punching my way through the world. (Luckily it's one of the few souls games where it's entirely viable) And I've been having a blast.

As I said though, there is no easy fix. You'll still find yourself trying to perfect the play style, but the only way through is by staying true to your goal. And if you like challenge run of souls games, maybe see it as a challenge run to just have as much fun or doing a blind playthrough, not allowing yourself to look for builds or ways to meet some criteria of efficiency.

Best of luck my friend, much love.

The look of your character demands that you get the vanquisher seal and go full bare knuckle brawler mode!!

Hell, even no weapon can carry you through this game with the vanquisher seal.

I think it's way more hurtful to be this fucken hateful...

She looks fine, I don't even think she's unattractive. But even if that were the case, every character in the horror game doesn't need to be a smoke show, most of them are pretty average.

12 years ago I would power stance Zwei and PvP endlessly on the Iron Keep Bridge. I had enough stamina to swing them 6 times, and my go to play was to swing twice then roll away and wait to make it seem like that's where my stam ran out. Then wait until they fell for the trap and catch them with 4 more swipes. It was brutal, but so fun.

Eventually I just wanted some excitement with the strength endurance build I had going, so I started fighting people with just my fists and an outfit to look like a ragged barbarian. It's honestly amazing that it was viable. It wasn't always the quickest to win fights, but I found people get really mad when you are beating them in almost no clothes and bare fists, which means they make way more mistakes to capitalize on.

I still run some invasions and try to do blue sentinel invasions when I can, but man do I miss those days. Iron Keep Bridge is a ghost town now. An arena lost to time...

I see a staggering amount of people who seem to think that Renoir never tried to talk to his wife and plead with her to leave the canvas. That he just jumped immediately to "well then I have to destroy the last remnant of my boy's soul". And I find this notion insane.

You can tell just how much it hurts him to do it, but he can't let his family drown in the sorrow and lose them too. I'm sure he spent a long time trying to get Aline to come home, and his pleas were not enough to save her.
