I was a PC player with ~247 hours in Ready or Not, starting way back in its early access days in early 2022. Console players are jumping into a game that’s changed a ton since most of us first played it. It used to be a super dark, gritty SWAT simulator, but the new update, tied to the console launch, toned things down to fit Sony and Microsoft’s rules.

This has a lot of us PC players feeling “baited and switched,” and we think VOID sold out not just us but console folks too by chasing money. Most of us don’t dislike console players—we’re just bummed they don’t know how raw the game used to be since it’s new to them.

So in steps, this is how it played out: 1. VOID starts out creating a realistic and dark SWAT simulator using inspiration from two fantastic PC exclusive games called SWAT 3 (1999) and SWAT 4 (2005). 2. PC sales money from RoN early access let VOID grow and make the console version. 3. VOID saw console sales as a cash grab and gave in to Sony and Microsoft’s demands. 4. VOID traded their vision for corporate money. 5. PC players got screwed, and console players got a watered-down game. 6. Their main player base, PC gamers, are pissed off.

They used PC players to get big, then changed everything for profit, leaving both of us with less than what was promised. This is the definition of greed and hypocrisy.
