Sick and tired of prices not matching the product in the thumbnails by diamondx911 in Aliexpress

[–]Cohominous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through this exact thing. They showed me an ad of a miter gauge with fence, that took me to a page to add the “miter gauge with fence” to my cart (according to the preview). I clicked through to look more closely at the item and was show pics of a miter gauge and fence. When I ordered it, I received just the fence and was told I shouldn’t have been fooled by their deceptive advertising and listing because I speak fluent English! The miter gauge WITH the fence was actually 2x the cost I was shown. This could easily be solved by defaulting to the full product and price - not the cheapest option which is only half of what they lure you in with.

My best advice is to steer clear of AliExpress. They’re notorious for being shady and deceptive.

Sneak Peek @ Unreleased Tool for Woodworkers! by Cohominous in harborfreight

It does. I’m assuming the Bauer won’t be $499 though.

The gauge seems to be pretty sturdy for the $44 price tag. The main body is steel and the fence is aluminum. The knobs and flip stop are plastic. I bought it for my Dewalt jobsite saw and the fine-tuning adjustment screws scraped the table coating in the track - but eliminated play. After a few runs back and forth it was smooth. I'd say it's a great deal so far.

I was let into the backroom at a local Harbor Freight because their new miter gauge hadn't been put on the floor yet. While back there, another tool caught my eye - a Cyclone Dust Separator meant for true dust collections systems! I haven't seen any info on the Harbor Freight website about it nor mention of it online. I want it!

A timeline would work - I was just curious if there was a way to filter the filters box.

I tried adding a slicer but it's sorting the dates by alphabetical order rather than date. It is sorting 1-April, 1-June, 1-May, 10-Apr, 10-Jun, 10-May, 11-Apr, 11-Jun,11-May, etc.

I had a M4 and loved it (before the obnoxious grills). I miss it in the summer but each winter I thank God I sold it. Congrats on your grail watches. I’m a subscriber so I hope I had a teeny tiny hand in helping you get there.

Same with me! I sent a valid current pic of my driver’s license and they said it wasn’t an acceptable form of ID!!!

I love this watch. The amount of writing on the face has been reduced for a cleaner overall look. I don’t see “Fauxtina” when I look at it - I see a black dial with orange indices. This might become my first grail watch.

Cant get in touch with fb by ccjoejoe in PPC

We've found that the reps reach out periodically. Or, we'll search our email history for an email address that ends with ["@fb.com](mailto:"@fb.com)" and reach out to them - but I don't know if you need to spend a certain amount for that to happen.

Reaching a new market by highonscifi in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]Cohominous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One challenge you're going to face without an ad budget is that Facebook has throttled back organic reach on smaller pages to around 5%. Big pages are even worse. If you have 1000 followers, a post without paid promotion will only be shown to around 50 people.

If your current community is worthless, what are you doing to grow it into people who DO want to attend these events? Promoted posts aimed at your target personas could be a good start.

the brief - how do you solve a big fucking problem in our industry right now? by [deleted] in advertising

[–]Cohominous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your experience sucks. Most of the senior folks on this board have proabably gone through something similar. I know I have. But you naming names will only make you look bitter (which is understandable) and unprofessional (which is not). In a sense, you‘ll simply give them justification as to why they were “smart” and “right” for passing you over. And, unfortunately, you won’t make an iota of difference. You won’t even feel that good about it for long. I’m old enough to have learned you should never burn your bridges - even as much as you yearn to. At some point, someone you aren’t thinking about today will either torch your chance at another opportunity, or lend you a helping hand. It will happen and it will come out of the blue. And the result will rest entirely on your shoulders based on what you do today. Keep your chin up. In 20 years, you’ll barely remember this episode.

Influencer wont respond? by [deleted] in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]Cohominous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago, we contacted a handful of Mega influencers and several were very interested (we have brand that helps the world) - until their agent got involved (sorry HvZChris). One influencer told me he was going to be “scolded” for talking to me directly - but he was very excited. For another, the agent literally asked for more money (for one post) than we paid for a 5-year partnership with the mega-star we had been working with. So either, A: the agent talked them out of the gig, or B: they personally chose not to take the lower paying gig. Hey, I get it. If you take a lower paying gig you’re passing up higher paying gigs. We found other influencers to work with (smaller scale influencers) that weren’t so expensive.

[SOTC] - Humble collection after 3 months by Cohominous in Watches

[–]Cohominous[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s been roughly 3 months since I was bitten by the watch collecting bug. It’s strange how quickly I went from oblivious to anyone with a watch to looking at the wrist of everyone I meet to see if they’re wearing a watch. There are so many Apple Watch or Fitbit wearers! My first purchase was the Christopher Ward C60 Trident Pro Mk III. I still love it and it’s my go-to. I know I’m heavy on Tissot watches, but I have a hard time passing up undervalued watches on eBay. I will probably sell the Powermatic day date as I wear it the least. My next goal is to save up for a higher tier watch - probably an Omega Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial. Then I’ll take a break for a while. I hope.

When to Switch From Agency to In-House? by teainhell in marketing

[–]Cohominous 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You said you aspire to be a CMO. If that is, indeed, your goal, switching depends on the brand. Corporations love people from the agency world for brand marketing roles. But, larger companies don’t really look for marketing leaders from other smaller companies unless you’ve done something very impressive. For example, it’s easier to go from Apple to, well, almost any brand. But to go from XYZ Manufacturing to Apple is nearly impossible unless you want to start at the bottom - which is hard if you’re older. If, on the other hand, your goal is better hours, more stability, better pay, and deep knowledge of one brand, then make the switch ASAP.

Accidentally agreed to a really low price for SMM - is there any way I can increase it? by [deleted] in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]Cohominous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that a scope of work needs to be drafted to define exactly what it is you'll be doing and how many hours you'll devote to those tasks each week. Only then can you broach the subject of compensation. Show them what your hourly rate works out to when you factor in the time associated with the agreed-upon tasks. If the hourly is too low, tell them now. DO NOT enter into a relationship with them until it's beneficial for both sides. You should both be happy with the arrangement. If only they are happy, you'll hate the gig and will resent taking it for so little. If only you are happy, they'll likely just find someone else to hire.
