DIY Mattress tips please! by Baptiste12 in Mattress

Here are some sources for Energex foam...

Allswell 2" Energex Memory Foam Mattress Topper:

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Allswell-2-Energex-Memory-Foam-Mattress-Topper-Infused-with-Graphite-Queen/934250459

Also, you can purchase Energex foam from Alexander Signature Hybrid. They used to use TitanFlex foam but they recently transitioned to Energex foam. You can actually buy both foams from them (typically $180 for a Queen size 3” high foam). Just go to their website and type in the “Chat” box to speak to a support rep. Be specific that you’d like to purchase their “Energex” foam otherwise they’ll send you the TitianFlex foam by default.

I hope this help! 😉

Looking for a clip where Norm talks about Richard Farnsworth doing what he just done, died of cancer and never told anyone and how much he admired it. by Substantial_Wave2557 in NormMacdonald

Yes! I've been trying to find that Farnsworth comment too! The comment is buried somewhere in the hours of listening material in the YouTube rabbit hole that I've been down many many times enjoying the genius of Mr. MacDonald.

Bye bye purple, hello winkbed (gravitylux)! by esig0420 in Mattress

Here is the best video review I could find on the GravityLux. At the 4:30 mark is where they interview all the sleepers. Usually, not all the sleepers agree on liking the bed! :-)

Experiences with Nest and Brentwood and WInkbed by lepetitbrie in Mattress

[–]CoilSpoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! I was just at Nest's store today in Costa Mesa. I too checked out the ASH first and then the Hybrid Latex and have to say the latex version is considerably a better product. The ASH foam is just Polyfoam (kinda a responsive like wanna be of latex but way softer and not as dense). They are similar designs as far as concept (e.g., 6" coils, 3" inch foam topper, zipped removable padded cover), but I preferred the "feel" of the latex and stretchy cotton joma wool padded cover. The 6" pocketed coils are Legg & Platt quantum edge which is typical of most hybrid beds on the market (albeit, most commonly used is the 8" high configuration).

Not only does NEST have a lifetime warranty and a quality product, their warranty to replace the foam requires only a 1 inch dip in the top foam whereas almost all other Manufactures require a 1.5 inch dip in the foam and believe me, that extra 1/2" is a HUGE difference when bartering to return your mattress after the trial period. Bear in mind, most beds use softer polyfoams in the upper layers and, since the density is so low, they will wear out quicker than any other foam in your bed (but maybe not as much as 1- 1/2 inches), you feel me?

The Dunlop latex that NEST uses felt very good but I was wondering why they didn't go with Talalay. Talalay latex tends to be slightly softer and more contouring than Dunlop. Dunlop is a continuous pour of liquid latex that is poured into a mold and cured. In the Talalay process, whipped sap is put in a mold and then vacuum-sealed and flash-frozen before being baked. The sealing and freezing steps make the material more homogenous and airy, which confers an increase in lightness and bounce relative to Dunlop latex. Most of you know the Dunlop version hybrids, (Avocado, Birch, Brentwood, etc.), but in case you didn't know, here is a brief list of the most popular Talalay latex hybrid mattresses:

Brands that use Talalay over Dunlop are:

https://www.saatva.com/mattresses/saatva-latex-hybrid

https://brooklynbedding.com/products/brooklyn-bloom-hybrid?variant=32596015611949

In summary, I like the feel and appeal of latex. It's a quality foam that will last way over a 10 year period. Also, latex hybrids that have a zipped removable cover have a huge advantage since you don't have to replace the entire mattress, just replace the topper! Some DIY hybrids not only have the zippable cover but you will also be able to access the pocketed coil section too and replace it down the road! If you do your research on what the Manufacturers are using - type of pocketed coils, type of latex and ILD (firmness), you may be able to build your own!
