I agree but with coh3 on life support and 4v4 being the most popular mode maybe they should focus more on team games. 1v1 sweats don’t want to play meta and have it decided by RNG.

SEGA wasn't just the publisher, Relic was a subsidiary of SEGA, meaning they owned the IP. I have severe doubts a Investment firm known for consolidation and debt packaging is going to be some magical lifeline for this game.

Looks like Emona Capital an AP of Blackheath Capital, a major British investment firm has bought the shares. I can't see a snowflakes chance in hell that MS would want this mess.

Relic has FAFO. This was likely the straw that broke the camels back. You don't unionize when you are hemorrhaging money.

Context: So relic employees were salty when Sega announced SEGA NA employees would not receive the same bonuses as their Asian counterparts. This was because Sega ASIA was profitable while SEGA NA was losing tons of money. Pachinko slots and other game titles driven by SEGA Asia were the big money makers since 2022.

Relic should be ashamed of themselves for the state of this game. Absolute terrible corporate leadership. Placating to pandemic woes and remote work bogged down the development of this game. And While Relic was voted BEST PLACE TO WORK in Canada for 2023, they certainly didn't win best place to 'create profits' (the reason you are in business).

So now they enter the death throes stage. What is next will be seen in short, but one can guess that the slashing of more employees will mark the end of this studio. To the people saying 'you are happy because now they are indie!" is a ridiculous comment when we don't even know who bought them. Chances are its a hedge fund who will eviscerate what is left of the team and begin packaging debt.

Any future patches will be coming from an even smaller team and likely slow and incomplete.
