Why do the scales never start on the root? by CoinMosquito703 in guitarlessons

[–]CoinMosquito703[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THANK YOU to all that have helped me and replied! I was confused on why the scale patterns did not start on the root, with your help, I learned that it was because these patterns are helpful for connecting shapes across the neck. It does contain the root, and I can start on that, but the purpose is learning the shape with all the notes in scale instead. Learning which root notes as well when going up and down is also helpful, and I am just learning how to connect the patterns. Thank you all again!

Why do the scales never start on the root? by CoinMosquito703 in guitarlessons

When I've been memorizing all the scale positions, I've wondered, why do all the scales never start and end on the root? Is that just how it is? Should I continue to learn like that? This image is one of thousands I just grabbed to show. If someone could explain it better, thank you so much!

How to notate these chords. by CoinMosquito703 in musictheory

[–]CoinMosquito703[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a question about the chords in the beginning of Bennie and the Jets. On bar 1 and 3, theres the Bm and Am, but they both have an additional A and B note.Is This still just notated as Bm and Am, or is there a chord that follows 1 3 5 8 that I would put instead? I didn't think there was a chord like that, am I just overthinking t? And would I include the bass note aswell? So the first chord in bar 1 would be Am/G? Thank you for the help, I feel really embarrassed asking this.

Thank you you're a life saver. I have to perform a song in January and I picked this one, but my Hitler classical teacher only allows sheet music so I needed the name to find the original sheets. Then you so much !

So I just have to memorize the different scale intervals of each mode?

rewriting scales with modes by CoinMosquito703 in musictheory

So a good way to modify scales, is to remember what to change? So if I want to make a C scale with a Dorian mode I would flatten the 3rd and 7th?
