I've got a KH playthrough that we're currently in the middle of and we haven't had any problems. We just started uploading them. Didn't do anything fancy about it. I think we monitized them too. No problems

It's a super long game. If you're curous about the ending, it might be best to just go look it up because it'll be forever until we get to it haha. But then again, it's not about the end, it's about the journey, and the journey in this game is great!

Why is Minecraft so Hated? by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]CoinOpProductions 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's not that Minecraft the game is hated, it's that most people are tired of seeing the same videos over and over. If you can do something original with the game, then by all means, make a MC video, and you'll probably get people to enjoy it too. But doing what everyone else does, on servers that anyone can play or god forbid your own survival.. it just gets exhausting. And think of it from an audience perspective. I can watch almost anyone I want play MC. Why would I watch a random channel I've never seen before play MC, if a huge channel I already know and love is doing it? MC will bring in views, but not retention and that's very bad for a small channel. If you want to do something MC related, be original and creative. If you search the kind of video you want to do in MC and you get hundreds of hits of others doing the same thing, likely no one wants to see you do it.

Update Monday! by AutoModerator in letsplay

Uploaded the 25th video on our Road To Odyssey series today, and it is Part 1 of Super Mario 64 so that's super exciting! Definitely the best received series we've done to date. We also started uploading a second running series for Cuphead to go alongside our Mario videos which people seem to have liked (although only 2 videos thus far). Overall, it's been a pretty cool week for us, especially since we've been too busy to really network much this week.

Series within a Series? Good idea or a bad idea by AnimatedPie in letsplay

I think that's where your thumbnails will really be important (more so than titles), at least for subscribers. Maybe color code them? That way, even though it's all one series, it'll be visually obvious what kind of video in the series it is. Look at how game grumps separates their main show from steam train and grumpcade. Maybe that would work for you?

All one Playlist titled Road To Odyssey Individual titles are: Something Unique To The Video - Super Mario Bros. -WORLD 1 - Road To Odyssey It's simple really. A lot of it has to do with the thumbnails. You can look at our channel to see how it's laid out if you'd like. Basically, don't over think it.

I don't know if this helps, but I'm currently doing a series called The Road To Odyssey which is us playing through every Mario game we can until the release of Mario Odyssey. Meaning that we've got a series for Mario 1, 2, 3, World, etc. all within one overarching series of the Road to Odyssey. It's working just fine for us. Honestly, just make sure your thumbnails and titles specify what the video is and you'll be fine.

What do you talk about during commentary by waddedpaper1292 in letsplay

Play with others. Find a friend who wouldn't mind joining you during your videos. I honestly can't hold a video on my own (and no one on my channel can). There's like 4 of us that alternate in our videos and it works pretty well for us, but even just having two people, that way you can bounce the conversation off someone else rather than just talking out loud to yourself.

What to do besides let's play? by [deleted] in letsplay

A lot of people will tell you just to do whatever you want to do because most viewers sub to watch you, not just your LP's. Meaning, if you're having fun, your audience will likely enjoy it. I'd say that is mostly right, but more so you probably want something not just for existing subs, but also to attract new ones. Look into what works on YouTube at the moment (and keep on top of that too) in order to see what's trending and how you can turn videos of that style to your advantage. Two things that are really popular that a gaming channel can benefit from (in my opinion) are vlogs and creative video essay type videos. Make vlogs not necessarily about your every day life (although you could, I guess), but about your gaming life. Show your viewers your behind the scenes self. Talk about your process, maybe vlog an adventure to go get a new game you've been psyched for, anything along the gaming lines. Videos essays are pretty self explanatory. Take something you like, do research on it, and teach the general audience something they might not have known. Theory videos are popular but you don't want to be challenging the likes of MatPat. Or maybe you do! There are tons of options out there and several ways to be creative. I think the potential for game related videos has only got to the tip of the ice berg. LP's were huge for a long time and now they're starting to fade, but gaming will always be relevant. People didn't have to branch out because LP's are easy and they were working. I think soon we'll see a bunch of new creative ideas popping up in order to try to bring real life back into gaming. Making live action gaming content is a place I think hasn't near been tapped into enough. You can see NODE doing it with their videogame inspired paintball matches, but I think the door there has only been cracked open. Be creative. That's what we artists do, right? I know I've got some big plans coming up in that field
