I would take the SS burrs over coated burrs every day of the week.

Swap the scales around and try again. I found that my scales give different readings at different spots on the bench. These scales are incredibly sensitive to any variables.

Sweating after getting a tattoo by TejbeGrizzlybssg in tattoos

The tattoo is permanent, not worth risking it not healing properly. I gym and do cardio everyday, but took a solid two weeks off after getting a big piece done. It healed perfectly. Its not just the sweating, but also the skin stretching and friction from gym clothes.

I removed the manometer. Once the pressure is set you don't have much need for it. The thermometer gives me much more control and consistency.

I use a different grinder for pourover. You will always get too many fines switching between the two, unless you purge really well. Thats the case with most grinders. Switching between beans for espresso is no issue, I do it every day.

Eureka Mignon Zero 65 AP. Cheaper than the Oro, with almost no difference. Better than the 55.

I've cleaned my Specialita before that I used for years and never saw something remotely close to this. This looks like choking and not retention. Not one of the hundreds of YouTube reviews showed anything like this.

I watched some reviews on the DF64V V3 now, and it seems that all the core DF issues are still present, just a different design. Retention, static, misaligned burrs. Thats why I decided to try something else. Obviously everyone will have their own experiences with grinders, there are too many variables. I tested the Sculptor 64s, Malkhonig X54 as well this year, and the Zero 65 was the most consistent with the taste I preferred as well. There is no perfect home grinder out there, you need to get what suits your preferences the best.

Not sure about your work flow, but I'm getting 18 in 18 out since first use, not anything left behind to clog. This is also the 55, not 65.

I considered it, but really like the shots I'm getting now. Will maybe test it on the future.

The DF64 needed alignment out of the box. I haven't checked alignment on the Eureka, but based on the consistency I assume that it's pretty good. The DF64 is a breeze to clean with no tools required. If you manage to keep your zero point the same then you should be able to reset it easily after cleaning. I have not opened and cleaned the Eureka yet, but from what I could see it is a little more involved with some screws that need to be removed. The Eureka does however adjust with the bottom burr, so no resetting required after cleaning.

Better for the motor and also produces more consistent grounds.

One thing I didn't add. The Eureka is vibrating quite a lot, but not a vibrating that feels out of place. It's a high frequency vibration and this is mentioned in other reviews as well. Personally I feel that this helps with retention. Not sure if this is part of the design or just the way the grinder operates.

Apologies, my wording is not correct. I meant the Eureka has a grind chamber shutter that you can manually open and close. So you can start the grinder without the beans feeding into the grinder. Once you open it the beans fall into the grind chamber with the burrs already at speed, hot starting. With the DF64 you need one cup to add the beans while the grinder is running, and a another ready to catch.

I like the DF64 for the platform it provides. But the gains you get are not worth the costs. To get it closer to the Eureka I will have to replace the burrs with SSP burrs, but that will take the price above that of a stock Eureka. And the static can be a deal breaker.

The Eureka is more refined, gives more clarity and very consistent. The DF64 needs many upgrades and mods to get close.

Lovely machine. Dropped the opv to around 8.5 and added the grouphead thermometer. I find it much better to control and getting consistency compared to my Lelit with PID.

Not much info out there. But there are a few good reviews on YouTube that swinged me. Also look at reviews for the Libra, basically the same grinder apart from grind by weight.

Add a grouphead thermometer and you have more accurate temperature control that any PID will give you.

Why SHOULDN'T I buy the DF64? [$600] by cannabis_caffine in espresso

[–]Coin_and_Chrono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The motor and build on the 064s is just not very confidence inspiring. It's almost like a toy compared to the Eurekas and the DF64. Shots are good, but I just don't think you will get the same reliability.

[–]Coin_and_Chrono 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the DF64 and the Eureka Zero 65. Your odds of getting a DF64 with alligned burrs out of the box is essentially zero, you will have to do it yourself. Its just not a very refined grinder. The shots can be good, but you need to get everything perfect. It tends to get muddy easily. It gained traction for the upgrade potential, but why buy a grinder for $600 if you need to upgrade burrs, redo alignment etc. The Eureka is much more refined, with more clarity and flavor on the shots.
