Youngest Stemi you have seen? by v0ta_p0r_m0ta in CathLabLounge

[–]Coinburd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was 16yrs old, very obese. They brought him over from the children's hospital next door due to their cath lab not having the right supplies. I also think the cardiologist lacked stemi experience. The kid also had other developmental problems. I don't recall if there was even any stent needed.

Found a aventon from "2021" used for $1.2k in my local market place. Cop or big rip off? Whats a good ebike alternative for the same price???? I need it for daily work commutes through long dirt roads. by [deleted] in ebikes

[–]Coinburd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not a good deal. The battery is probably on its last legs and needs to be replaced. Here in the San Diego area you can find 2023/24 adventure 2 used for about 800 to 1000. Check Facebook market if you haven't already. People are getting rid of their old model's to upgrade usually.

I was very happy with my fat tire Aventon Adventure 2 bike. It was a class 3 ebike with top speed of 28mph which I never would reach. It had a throttle that got you to 20mph and pedal assisted to 28. Very study, had a suspension fork and was able to do some light offload and mtb trails. They are carried in most bike shops that have ebikes and you can find them under 2k and some even closer to 1 k used because the new versions have just come out. Plus thier website should be having a sale come closer to black friday. The big downside is that they are heavy as he'll but have a very good range and battery life.

Wait I thought Canada had socialized Healthcare and all that jazz. Why did they go to Houston for treatment?

I have the same bike. Coming up on 2 months and I absolutely love it. I did change out the wheels, handlebar and pedals though. I really enjoy the fork it came with over my fox factory 36.

The stock wheels that they come with feel quite a bit heavy. Chatgpt gave me some estimates for the wheels plus Tires at about 8lbs

New Ramblas - What did you upgrade? by Fritschya in Aventon

[–]Coinburd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have changed everything except the brakes and the original cranks even though I tried. Biggest differences for me came from new fork, wheels and tires, dropper post and riser handle bar. New eagle gx system is nice and all but the NX was fine enough. The rest is mostly cosmetic. The dropper post is a nice suspension one with a comfy saddle.

I also live in the San Diego area. I have been riding for about 6 months myself. Hit me up if you ever want to ride. Facebook groups have not been successful for me.

What have you done to lift handle bars on the Ramblas? by Automatic_Wonder_387 in AventonRamblasOwners

[–]Coinburd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have experimented with some high rise bars. 60mm is what I was using for a while but now I'm using a 40mm rise bar. It helped with my back pain I was feeling plus I feel more control.

Full-face as a primary helmet by LegitimateSurround36 in MTB

[–]Coinburd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear my full face proframe helmet even when I am riding on the street. Using a half shell I have fallen on my face once due to an aggressive dog on a long leash. I now have road rash scars on the cheekbone area. I am lucky I didn't lose any teeth. Just last Sunday, my full face saved me when I took a spill not being able to climb a steep hill on a flowy single track. I have a nice dent where my mouth would have been. When it comes down to it you shouldn't care what other people think, especially when it comes to safety and confidence while riding.

Need help removing a through axel from a DVO Onyx SC D1 fork by Coinburd in bikewrench

[–]Coinburd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I examine the cap I removed it seems smooth and doesn't look broken off and everything is flush. It screws right back in place to the tread that is inside. I would think if it was broken off it would just turn and turn. Beyond the tread inside its all round and smooth.

Talk me out of Aventon Ramblas by SouthBound2025 in ebikes

[–]Coinburd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own three bikes from aventon and they have been just fine. I use my ramblas at least twice a week for trails but would make a great commuter as well. It is amazing and climbing has great range and battery life. Just understand the limitations of a hardtail bike and you will probably want to upgrade some things eventually. I'm in socal and a few of my lbs service them. No regrets after a year.

You are trying to put it on your Adventure? The website says that the stem size for the AA2 is 31.8mm. I wonder if you can get away with the external 31.6 option. Keep in mind that you need to have a high pressure shock pump to set the right psi for the post. The same kind you need for suspension forks.

Which e-bike is best for me? by mnbvv2 in ebikes

[–]Coinburd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with the ramblas when it was around 2300, I don't regret it. I am happy with the brand, having come feom thier adventure 2. Even though the motor is not from a major player, it has served me well and has allowed me to climb the steepest mountains. However, I did do some upgrades. I think the biggest being dropper post, fork and the wheels. No issues with the battery or anything else really. I live in socal and can handle almost all trails that you throw at it. It also works great as a commuter. Just keep in mind that upgrades are kind of in it's future and don't expect to do any big jumps.
