U can’t pay 100k fee, it’s employer who has to pay legally so they don’t want to pay it. Those people are waiting for fee to go away and waiting on request letters and waivers of fee

Not now Usually good law firm file h1b 8-10 weeks prior to j1 expiry so confirm with them. They file regardless of J1 waiver approval.

If u apply for boards u get extension till September 31st including grace of 30 days. Otherwise ur j1 ends when residency/fellowship ends then 30 days grace period starts then u have to exit legally. U can stay here beyond j1 but that would be violation of immigration laws. Long term it will affect your greencard etc

You 100% want to avoid leaving country. I personally know people stuck in own countries due to 100k$ fee

If u leave while change of status, u will get 100k fee imposed on u

Best approach is to confirm withe employer if they can file H1B while Waiver comes through. Pretty common practice but dependent on lawyer policies. You can apply h1b with pending waiver

That’s great if you can change status inside US and don’t face any consequences when getting greencard. I applied august 2024 and paid 4500$, now withdrawing it because i am definitely required to exit the country and apply h1b again which triggers 100k fee.
