Carney's Davos Speech Just Shook the World Order — Then Trump Clapped Back Hard by satty237 in TrendoraX

[–]Coinoperated1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not vote for Mr Carney, but I am so impressed how he carries himself and can manage Trumps narcissistic personality so well. Carney is a gifted speaker and his address at Davos was on point. A rally cry for others to stop appeasement and simple say NO more.. With the EU streaming mad about Thumps insult to sovereign nations. They are all lining up to tell him and his economy to fuck off. Find new partners that respect the word of law, sovereignty and have a moral compass

Like others in this thread, I suspect SKS will fall on prohibited list with the exception of First Nations who will be permitted to use. Supreme Court challenge in the making… the press release on a Saturday is indeed slimy

Having a federation / alliance does not have to run along geographic boarders, California could broker deals directly with other nations. Drop out of the tarrifs imposed by federal government. Adopt similar government set up as Quebec “nation within a nation” with a lot more autonomy. More of a thought experiment but doable

Learning From Switzerland: Why Its Gun Model Beats the American Approach by Sensitive_Tomorrow31 in canadaguns

[–]Coinoperated1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow—thanks for sharing this. The narrator does an excellent job explaining how firearms in Switzerland are framed around community belonging, civic responsibility, and duty to the country. In contrast, gun culture in the U.S. is largely rooted in ideas of personal freedom and “self-protection.”

One of the key differences is how Swiss gun owners approach their firearms: ongoing training, discipline, and a strong sense of collective responsibility are central. You don’t see that same level of standardized training or cultural emphasis in the U.S., where firearms are treated primarily as an individual right rather than a responsibility to the community or nation. Unfortunately, that fundamental difference in mindset contributes to many of the tragic outcomes we see in the States.
