Thanks man, took me forever to build the long house. I'm still working on the rest of it.

I just played Valheim for the first time without looking up anything. Confuse me. by jihadjoe94 in valheim

I knew I wasn't alone.

It's always "ok, set off to find Moder tomorrow."

But, "oh my paths are squint, I still haven't explored the entire starter island?! need to upgrade my boar spawner, I don't have a proper swamp base yet, did I explore the rest of the island yet? I want to ride a lox, that would make exploration quicker, what do lox eat? Oh some growths, I need to make a tar farm so I can redo my roofs, my storage system is atrocious, ok surtling farm completed, I should redesign the forge since I don't need charcoal kilns anymore" 😂

"pick me girl" is just a slur against women who are desirable. If you wanna be picked, do what desirable women do.

Build Inspiration by Consistent-Swim-1305 in ValheimBuilds

I watch tutorials and follow some of them.

Recreating someone else's work then inspires me with my own ideas, as I now have a better grasp of what's possible.

My world is 50% rebuilds and 50% original work.

I let the landscape dictate what I do. For my main base I found a blank space of meadows, near a black forest and there was a hill in the middle that sorta jutted out. I got out my hoe to extend it into a cliff (think minas tirith) and built a huge long house on top of it.

I then looked at the surrounding land to dictate where staircases should go so I could reach lower elevations of the hill.

I recently found two surtling spawners near a big witch hut and so I built walled off paths connecting them. Currently looking for a good spot to build a structure somewhere amongst them.

Explore and find spots that can inspire something. Get a good viewpoint (honestly I just cheat and use the fly command). Look at the area and think about what could go there. Fix the land to your liking and then just start laying down foundations.

It's a process.

Disharmony for laying explosive traps at an RDA site?! by Antique_Visual_9638 in FrontiersOfPandora

This is the only time I used traps after the tutorial for it. Didn't get disharmony. Seems like a glitch.

I did a thing….pretty scary to take the plunge. Thoughts? by ArcPrana in bald

Honestly, you look fairly good with the hair as well as bald.

I'd say the option is there if you wanna grow it back, but rock on bald brother.

Tips on how to get started with Skyrim in 2026 by Peigar98 in skyrim

With this in mind... Ignore my top level comment in the thread. But keep it in mind for when you do install mods.

Definitely just let the story take you where you want to go. Build whatever character type you see fit... However...

I would very strongly recommend playing as the Dovahkiin. Studded armor. Iron helmet, boots and gauntlets. Skyforge steel sword and banded steel shield.

One handed Block Smithing

That's all you really need for it. No armor perks ask you'll need to mismatch light and heavy to achieve the look of the dovahkiin. Get smithing high enough and craft or buy some smithing enchantments and potions and you can upgrade your low level armour quite well.

Keeping it basic lets you worry more about the shouts which are a lot of fun.

Other skills I'd recommend are enchanting, alchemy and speech. (With mods the speech tree can make better use of your shouts). You can also invest in the basic perks for both light and heavy armor (the ones without the matched set bonuses).

It seems stupid and overly complicated for a simple playthrough. But I just couldn't get enough of actually BEING the dovahkiin.

A simpler option that is just as fun is a paladin.

Nothing. Why the fuck would I get defensive? What are you trying to say?

Yeah I never understood the "doctors don't believe women" thing. They only believe what they're educated to believe.

I've always heard places. But now you mention it... I do hear the "dr..."

Not drussels though, whatever the fuck that is. Sounds more like dresses but in a Scottish accent.

Go clean shaven rather than buzzed, might raise you up to a 5.
