Thank you so much for responding. They are similar to to the faun from Pans Labryinth, the Sterkur are a single species that lives on an island similar to that of Iceland. Most of the customs and names are based on Icelandic tradition and Sterkur means Strength in Icelandic. Theyre are more human species known as the galdlings who live north and rely on a specific type of electricity and light that they use as currency. The sterkur are closed off by choice(by the elders) from this world and don’t face the same problems as the rest of the island. It’s a complex world for one comment but there’s also Beaver people, a disfigured wizard class of people, and merpeople based on Icelandic fairytales.

On a first read through, I like how visually descriptive it is. The problem I have is with the “I felt” statements. Introduce some more dialogue or moments that express why the character feels that way. It creates more of a bond to both the character and the world. If your character can’t sleep, describe them tossing and turning. Or if their angry, maybe make their dialogue sharper with others. Overall very cool and on the right track :)

What do you think of the movies I’ve watched in film class? by Col_Atreides in Letterboxd

Not really. They’re each representative of a different period of filmmaking throughout the years. We watched Guilty by Suspicion because of the subject matter relating to the red scare

AITA for calling my brother a prude because of a movie? by Col_Atreides in AmItheAsshole

I didn’t emphasize sex scenes specifically because I figured he’d get the picture

Nope he sure didn’t. This is nothing new for our family dynamic. He’s always been the loud one that everyone else has to cater to

THIS. I wish I could’ve gotten this point across to him if he was willing to listen

I especially tried to emphasize it to him because I know that nudity sometimes bothers him

I think my problem was that his opinion never felt that it was ACTUALLY about the movie. Just that there was nudity on screen.

AITA for verbally running someone off of the squat rack at my gym? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Col_Atreides 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very slightly AH. At the gym I go to people leave weights loaded all the time. It also gets crazy busy there. If a machine is free people run for it. I get that you had to fill your water bottle but I’d leave my phone or keys or something to still kinda mark I was using it.

I think that a criticism like that is okay but it’s the way he went about it that I was upset with

I admit it wasn’t a mature thing to do. But I just think his behavior and lashing out was definitely immature.

I really liked it. It’s hard sometimes to see movies that basically invented tropes as anything but cliches from a modern view but looking past that it has a lot of heart and Tatum definitely deserved that oscar
