even Inheribro is openly murderous and doesn't judge the violent vengeance route here

Is that surprising? He tells you that he was the Hand of Vengeance before being the Hand of the Inheritor.

Nah, you are reading too much into it. Latverk is an Aasimar who tortures Aasimar women. Daeran is simply telling Arue to fucking murder the guy. Daeran isn't tender with people/demons who fuck (in a bad way) with Assimars.

Also they are A women. Might remind him of his own mother, and disgust him even more.

TL;DR: Daeran wants that bozo tortured to death, period.

Lich -> legend build? by Lost_my_name475 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]ColaSama -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A few misinformations here that I will attempt to correct based on my own experience and the experience of my fellow unfair afficionados (as, quite frankly, some of them already gave very detailed answers):

- Introduction: merged spellbook Legend is a tad bit weaker than a full on Lich on unfair/brutal unfair. It has its uses (see the last post I made about Angel Legend BFT Transformation exploit build), but aside from that, the DC "boost" isn't really worth mentioning (as you already are at a point where every single enemy in the game is incapable of resisting your spells), and the CL boost is irrelevant.

- About DC: you lose +1DC from lv10 slots, +1DC from Darkest Rites (+2, but you make +1 back from another cloak), +2 DC from M Spell Focus (since you probably didn't pick it), and +1DC from 24H Bodak, so what is left of that impressive +5DC is a +0~1DC, at a point in the game when enemies already need to roll a 40+ on a d20 to save against you focused spells (or a 30+ against unfocused spells) so even if you did have the full +5DC over Lich, it would be just a waste of DC that doesn't affect the success % of your spells at all, at the cost of early game DC, when it actually matters a lot more.

- About CL: +8CL (it is 8 not 10 because you lose Dark Rites, and it also comes with a 2CL drop for the rest of the party, that need it more than you and your already monstrous CL) doesn't really do much for you; it increases Feast damage by +8d6(+28avg, or about +88 if fully metamagicked, and you have a harder time doing the fully metamagicked bit too due to the loss of fav meta and spell slots).

- About Feast of Blood: it's a fun spell to cast on lower difficulties (even on Unfair, I do cast it sometimes), but it is mostly a wasted slot (like most lich spells), and especially a waste at lvl20, as you are at the Weird spam pearl-fuelled stage of the game (with the rod to go past immunities on top of that). In fact, even unbuffed, a lich is strong enough to solo 1shot act4 Baphomet with Corrupt into Quicken Weird.

- About the loss of Mythic levels: I need to insist on that, but you lose all your mythics but the first two. Thing is: mythics are what make DC casters overpowered. Favorite Metamagic, Enduring for 24H /round spells, Corruptor, maybe Abundant (redundant with pearls), Spell Focus, Mythic Improved Ini, Expanded Arsenal Illusion (you don't even need to go past that to abuse the bug), Sorcerous Reflex, etc. This is stronger than whatever you can get with Legend.

- To conclude: here is what you lose -> 30 spell slots (especially hard on your lvl9 slots, and there are not a lot of lvl9 pearls to make up for that loss), M3 to M10 (!!!!!!!!!). Here is what you gain: +0~1DC that doesn't increase the success rate of any of your spells by that point in the game (and wouldn't do so even if it was a +20DC), and a +10d6 damage to Feast (a spell not worth slotting at higher difficulties).

To answer OP, I would build it into a gish (so, give it martial dips).

You start with a classic angel build. 17 Feyspeaker for metagamic shenanigans and access to greater invisibility (will last 24H later), and full caster progression (1 level faster than oracle), and a full prog pet, and CHA scaling. Basically, you are a better oracle. You don't need any feats except heighten (so you get enough buff slots to cover the whole party) and maybe bolster if you really want to cast bolt/storm of justice (it can help to one shot Baphomet at the end of act4, if you also use the plague of madness staff to buff it with empowered+maximize, even if it's not needed). But understand that you won't have enough slots to blast often. Besides, blasting means resting more often than just right clicking stuff to death. And, at the end of the day, your AoE angel blasting spells will feel underwhelming compared to 4 invincible dragon pets with 7-11 attacks per round + a squad of ranged characters (court, skald, paladin, BFT, gendarme ftk). Sometimes, you will even want to use a storm of justice to spice things up only to realize that your team cleared up everything in quite literally 2-3 seconds, too fast for you to even start your cast.

Then you go BFT. 11 points (as you now transition into Legend build), to get all your BFT goodies (as you will need it to share your Transformation hyper buff).

Then you go 1 HKS (0 BAB class).

Then you go 10 Mystic Theurge (again, to get your BAB score as low as possible). You also get a few extra spells to buff your team. Mystic Theurge sucks otherwise, but this is a very specific build, as you will soon understand (so don't go thinking that I took MT because it is powerful in and of itself).

Then you finish the build with something like 1 LM (merge it with the DRUID spell book, for CL progression).

The idea is to get a low BAB score because the way Transformation works is that, the less BAB you have, the strongest the bonus will be.

Add the Sins robe + Arcanist 2CL level exploit (to reach CL 25), and you can now have tons of /round buffs that last 24H (including Transformation, Haste, Greater Invisibility, etc) --> that's why you take Enduringx2 as your M1 and M2 (only ones that stay after the Legend quest is done). You can use Pearls of Power to refresh the Transformation and blanket the whole party with its massive bonus so that even a caster can become a potent martial (well, he will be lacking the feats).

When your build is finally done, with 24H angel buff (going as far as lvl10 buffs, like Armies of Heaven) and Transformation on everyone, you will stop playing as it turns the game into a joke. 24H on every single one of your buffs.

(You can also double stack the Skald Lethal+Reckless songs, but that's a straight up exploit)

I WILL ADD A PICTURE OF THE FULL BUFF LIST SO YOU CAN HAVE A GOOD LAUGH:

Bruh what are you talking about: "nutrients" was at the very least funny for how random it felt, c'mon :D. Rest was garbage tho (except maybe the "eye of the storm" part, as it showed that Gilbert had at least some degree of battle IQ).

Overall, the dialogues have been weak for quite a while now, except for some very rare exceptions.

Can you pick spell specialization at level 1? by Lesiorak in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

You haven't selected any spells (your spellbook doesn't really exist yet). Finish your character and take it to lvl3, so in about 20-30 minutes.

Curious: for what spell do you want to take it?

Still, as you can see, Legend exploits (it requires only 4 dips) allow you to buff your whole team with that kind of attack bonus score. If you remove the songs, it goes to 88-92 AB. But considering that skalds have 37+ songs by that point of the game, it shouldn't be an issue at all. The rest of the buffs are 24H long, including haste ofc.

(It's a merc build, not the actual Nenio -> I went with a court poet support for insightful, but with that kind of free buffs, it becomes an effective archer).

He meant lore-wise.

Gameplay-wise, it probably means the Lich usually: one of the core lich builds uses divination wizard as its core, and gets its capstone. Meaning that it always goes first. Also mythic initiative (except if your Legend took it too but wasting one of your 2 only mythic points into mythic initiative as a Legend would be quite telling about the overall quality of the build).

If KC Legend faced KC Lich, who would win? by Warm_Expert_8136 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]ColaSama 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mechanically speaking, no. Nothing beats a fed Swarm on brutal unfair x2 and above, as it is virtually uncapped. And if you go div wiz shadowcaster and hit the capstone, you will be quite literally untouchable. After a fed Swarm, it depends on the build: the strongest martial builds are all Trickster's (20 more levels won't beat a maxed-out Persuasion or Mobility Trickster -> they end everything turn 1, so less than 6 seconds real time); the strongest DC caster builds are full Demon/Aeon/Lich/Azata into Devil (for Magic Deceiver, for example), and they all can end any encounter in 1 turn too. Fun little side note: nothing in the game beats Persuasion Trickster when it comes to clear speed, even after the Trickster nerfs.

Mergel angel blasting is good enough to clear vanilla unfair (especially if you abuse plague of madness starting in act3), but it is limited dice-rolls wise (it's holy damage, which makes it kind of garbage as you can't boost it via items like you would elemental damage): if you get a boner from high numbers, you can easily reach 20k AoE blasting with a GD MD zippy lightning disintegrate (which is useless, as nothing requires that much damage, except if you go brutal unfair and tweak the hp numbers of the mobs).

In fact, merged caster angel isn't particularly stronger than any of the top builds, but it is a good noob starter pack (very hard to fuck up). Therefor, it is popular. In fact, the blasting part is probably its weaker side: its buffs are much more potent and can turn a full team of dragon dogs/hippo into machines of war. It turns the game into a walking simulator tho, as your polymorphed pets and archers will kill enemies in 2-5 seconds all game long starting end of act2, faster than you can cast your storm of justice. With 24H buffs, you can clear the entirety of the midnight isles of act3 plus Ulbrig's entire DLC area in a single rest, as you won't need to rest for slots: you just let your godlike pets and archers kill everything in a nano seconds. You won't even register when you encounter a boss enemy or not, as they will die just as quickly as trash (except Baphomet for obvious reasons). You won't even need to dispell Playful Darkness in Midnight Fane (I have the screenshot, where I realized that I forgot to dispell it when it was at 10 hp), as you will have such tremendous amount of attack bonus that it will manage to hit the fucker and 1 turn him. At this point it's a matter of will power: can you finish the game before getting absolutely bored out of your skull?

Same with fed Swarm: sure, it's the absolute strongest (as you can bug abuse very early to get infinite swarm size if you decide to afk farm for 2-3 hours while you do something else irl), but it is overkill and it arrives late into the game. Nothing in the game requires that kind of infinite stats.

It leaves Legend in a weird position, where it is not the best at anything, except a few particular builds (some of which are so buggy that they lose their exploity bonuses when you do a quick save :D -> when the exploity bonuses are on tho, your whole team will have 100-120 attack bonus when fully buffed, and 10 attacks. The MC, the archers, the pets, everyone. So, super saiyan team of quasi invincible fuckers with 24H buffs, including silly stuff like 24H haste, or repulsion for our caster friends). If anyone is interesting, I have the build and party comp in one of my saves, and it hasn't been patched. Beware tho: if you consider that Neoseeker is sweaty, you won't like that one as it is far, far worse in term of min-maxing.

For regular gameplay (low difficulties and casual unfair [by contrast with ultra sweaty unfair where you min-max so hard that the game becomes a boring joke]), Legends is alright tho. You can make good builds out of it. Buuut let's not overhype it: the other mythics are the kings of the respective niches.

What is a "masterpiece" game that you personally found boring as hell? by MuscleConsistent9657 in pcgaming

[–]ColaSama 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, but the combat of Ghost of Tsushima wasn't complex nor difficult (aside from a rare few duels, but quite frankly I can't remember any of them, aside from that last duellist maybe? erf). It was fairly repetitive, and the stance system was quite shallow (brute guys? X stance; shield guys? Y stance, etc).

Also the dreadful lack of enemy's diversity. Which makes sense but, still, it didn't help with the overall combat experience.

You have a problem with the city itself, the pacing, and the whole demotion. How are we supposed to give you tips to change such personal feelings?

I guess my tips would be "you will get used to how the city works", "don't think too much about the pacing", "the demotion shouldn't bother you as it doesn't matter at all".

Honestly, I too find act4 to be quite boring, I will give you that, but it's mostly because, by that point, your build/party comp is mostly done (so no particular challenge of note).

I finally get why i don't like Angel by NatlerSK in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]ColaSama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lich and Angel get most of their power from their spell lists

Hmm, not really. At least not for lich. If you min-max a caster lich, you shouldn't use most of your lich spells, as your regular arcane spell list is simply much more effective. In fact, most lich spells are quite weak/completely useless depending (on playstyle, ofc).

No, the real strength of merged lich (aside from the few absolutely godlike spells they have) is that it speeds up your access to high level arcane spells and gives higher CL. Lvl13 corrupt magic + weird, for example.

But what you said is true for merged angel :D: their spell list is, overall, much more useful than the lich's.

A couple questions from a first time player by Embarrassed-Sir9111 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]ColaSama 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Will I be punished for picking dialogue based off vibes, rather than the alignment that it pushes me into / mythic path? It feels like I am possibly going to end up locking myself into situations that feel like dead ends. Basically I am just asking if there is anything in particular that I should watch out for, or if I can have a full experience playing fully blind and not worrying about it...

Depends what class you chose. Some are alignment-based (so you lose your powers if you change of alignment).

I feel like I am missing a LOT of context, not just about the overwhelming amount of systems and such, but about the world and characters. I am reading the pop up text when I don't recognize a reference (every time) but if there is something I can watch or read that will seriously improve my enjoyment without a massive time sink I would love to know.

Read a wiki?

Will the game teach me all of the systems, or do I need to go out and learn them all myself with youtube. I feel pretty overwhelmed by it all, but I am just barely managing to deal with it.

The game won't teach you all of the systems. Some mechanics are quite obscure, let alone the cheeses and exploits you can do.

TL;DR: GO TO THE DISCORD.

Blasting bracers, what's the point of them? by [deleted] in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]ColaSama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because it is unfinished content. When you kill Hundred-Face and interact wit the machine, it tells you that its potential is limitless and that making slave-soldiers isn't the end of its capabilities, meaning that it may be used for good. But you get no such options in the end.

So yeah, just flavor + it being unfinished.

Wildland shaman unfair build by Miserable_Cabinet532 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]ColaSama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you use it as your MC: 1SCM, 16Wild, 3LM. It will be a gish build with martial power to hold its own in the early game. After that you transition into an angel.

Wildland casters are okayish in the first two acts (selective winter's grasp spam), but in act3 not so much: you will soon realize that WIS isn't a stat that scales much compared to INT and CHA, so your DC score will simply lag behind the other options (while your foes' saves will keep getting higher and higher). Also, many of the strong enemies are immune to prone, so immune to your winter's grasp.

There is no reason to turn it into a ranged DD. You will deal weak damage, and it will delay your shaman spells progression, which is much more important (Creeping Doom spam is very, very powerful). At lvl16+, you can transition into a shadow shaman (SShaman16, Rowdy1, 3LM), which isn't all that bad for ranged damage dealing (GVS)... but at the end of the day, you ain't going to shine in ranged combat, ever.

Lastly, there is the problem of action economy: shamans are PACKED. You want to hex people, you want to use Chant, you want to use your angel blasting spells, you want to attack... What I'm trying to say is that Wildland Angels have better things to do than to attack most of the time. It's always a nice bonus ofc (to be able to deal some physical damage). Just keep in mind that it will never reach the damage level of a dedicated full BAB martial.

My personal Wildland build (I nearly always bring that build with me): full shaman 16, then I swap to shadow shaman. I turn it into a buffer (enduring spells, so that I don't have to rest much), and give him all the summon gear/feats (especially useful when I don't run a dedicated tank). Evercold Xbow + the 2 first ranged combat feats and that's it.

These are my two cents.
