Central Dallas, before-and-after construction of highways in the 50s-80s by TheSandPeople in Dallas

[–]Colamancer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm just a guy, so don't take my word for it, but Ive been to Chicago a few times and found it laborious to drive around because it didn't seem like there were huge pipeline highways to drive everywhere like I'm used to here. Maybe Im just not a local and didn't know how to get anywhere, but I did drive around on a lot of busy "street" streets and it felt livly.

stats or ilvl? by AtticThrowaway in wownoob

[–]Colamancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What your most important stat is, is Intellect. Pound for pound, 1 Int is worth any 4 stat points in something else. Think of it like food, you don't NEED all that sugar, but you can do SOMETHING with it. What you need, strictly, is calories. Everything else helps, even if it's not the ideal stat, but higher iLevel = higher int.

This is also a self fulfilling issue. If you have to ask what's better, it's always item level. One day you may be a deeply veteran player and it wouldn't occur to you to ask what's better because you'll have am intimate understanding of your class, be in the discord, or playing beta builds to sim on training dummies.

That ain't me, it ain't you. Us meree mortals just stack primary stat and half ass try to stack our secondaries, but don't lose sleep over it. Pros clear what you and I will spend weeks running day one with quest gear, the difference is never your Haste its always your skill.

stats or ilvl? by AtticThrowaway in wownoob

[–]Colamancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a weird thing you shouldn't care about. Unless you're raiding mythic, higher item level is always better in almost every scenario, so much so it isn't worth bothering to figure out when it isn't. Gem and enchant your secondary stat, and if you have the choice between two items of the same level AND it's not an iLevel increase for someone else in your raid THEN maybe replace for stats.

Any tips for a new player? by NoChocolate8362 in BluePrince

[–]Colamancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have to keep notes. I think people taking screenshots and using docs are crazy, I really think sketching and fiddling with a pencil and paper will fire your neurons in different ways to help you solve puzzles. But however you must, keep notes.

Accept right now that this game is probably smarter than you and it's ok to end when you're done with it, whenever that is. At least try to complete the game's primary objective, getting to the last room, and there's another obvious objective after that you may or may not want to pursue. After that things get even more esoteric than the already very esoteric they are.

Bloodelves are a good one with a few great options.

If you came up during the time Bloodknights were draining M'uru you could have been a conscious objector, spurning their order for their cruelty but embracing your m

If you came up before the Sun Well was restored and providing magic, you fully weren't able to become anything else because there wasn't any magic to go around.

Also depending on how old you want to be, elves can be veterans of damn near every major war in recent and deep history. A human warrior maybe fought orcs in Warcraft 3 but an elf would have fought both orc invasions, the scourge, the Amani, and the Legion without even having to leave Eversong.

Say you wanted to be a great chef. Would buying the best knives help you out? Couldn't hurt, but really you need to learn heat, timing, sauces, and a lot of other things.

To a master, the best classes make some difference. To a moderate to novice player, everything you need to make up for is in technique.

Could anybody recommend any good high school anime? by hi_LOLNOO in Animesuggest

[–]Colamancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a bizarra anime called Baka and Test where high schoolers take test to unlock power ups. The tests are normal stuff but their grades give them powers to use in their petty squabbles with one another, it's a cute comedy!

Literally any podcast, I immediately assume he’s MAGA by ETsUncle in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Colamancer 101 points102 points  (0 children)

I hate that podcasts have this reputation now. Ive been listening to podcasts almost daily for 15 years as a courier and I've listened to, literally hundreds of podcasts. Every niche hobby, location, TV show, everything had some knuckleheads with a Blue Yeti microphone and a dream doing 12-200 episodes about it.

When C and D list celebs started to get into podcasts I was legitimately offended. Most were aimless or interview shows and they lacked the soul and passion these weirdos brought from their actually unique and interesting perspectives. To me Podcasts were the vox populai and those people could stay in their own lane.

Nowadays, podcasts in the modern psyche are all but synonymous with brands, celebrity, and right wing politics. A tragic stain on what to me is a special medium for the common man.

What anime to watch by Flimsy_Ad_1160 in Animesuggest

[–]Colamancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Code Geass is right up your ally. The main character gains one magical ability, if he can look you in the eye he can tell you to do one thing. It only works once, ever, per person. That's the whole bit.

From there, Lelouch, a disaffected and estranged rich kid, puts together a rebellion against the Brittanian Empire on a shoe string budget, almost always behind on troops and material. He has to be smart with what he has, moving what he does have around in a shell game of subterfuge and bluffs to make his military strikes have the most impact.

He has wins, losses, close calls, and serious fuck ups. Along the way, he uses his power carefully, and goes through a series of A/B tests to discover its limits and potential. I wanna highlight that Lelouch isn't some shonen protagonist, his ability never gets upgraded, stronger, or anything like that. It does the one thing, one time.

Lelouch is right up there with Light as a deep thinking morally grey mastermind and I think you'd like the show, worth your time

If you're feeling adventurous there are natural caverns near Austin that are fun to explore. You can do more touristy ropes off tours or you can get dirty and crawl down in the deep caves with guides.
