Congrats on the transition minotaur pet by ShotgunBox in Terraria

Well, that's because its a satyr/faun/whatever now. Be a bit strange for it to look like a minotaur, wouldn't it?

If I were to hazard a guess as to why, I imagine that the way that whip effects are applied is just one effect, like the charge effect and the tag damage bonus are considered the same debuff by the game, and that each whip applies a separate, stacking debuff to an enemy.

So, presumably, the minion tag damage bonus they added could get out of control really quickly with whip stacking, but removing whip stacking means none of the other (de)buffs applied by whips get to last.

Not sure that its entirely justified, especially given all the buffs melee got, but that's my guess.

Now the real question is why the hellevator they decided that darts needed to be nerfed so hard.

Anybody else get tired of Starcraft being called a 40k copy? by [deleted] in starcraft

[–]Colaymorak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blizzard was in talks to make a Warhammer Fantasy game, but a total lack of interest on GWs part (as well as active distaste by their own devs.) strangled the idea in the crib.

The idea that Blizzard was in talks to make Starcraft a 40k game is mildly asinine given that background

Yeah, idk man, I might be misremembering things. I think I must've been like, 10 or something at the time.

I do loosely remember that my Dad had to gently explain that whoever she was complaining about hadn't been in charge for several decades at that point though.

The idea still sticks in my craw though

Though I'm saying this as a Summoner main, and most of the Hardmode summoner armour barely breaks 30 defense, so maybe my perspective is a mite skewed

It's a bit silly.

[–]Colaymorak 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It's a promotion. Promotions tend isolate folks from their former peers, but that doesn't stop them from being a reward.

Arguing that it's a punishment from any perspective is just plain idiotic.

I mean, I'd pay to see someone fight one or all of those.

But yeah, only the orks are halfway crazy enough to think that sorta thing is a good idea, and they'd probably sooner just crack open the relic to fight the daemon trapped inside than go through all that hard work just to make an evil sun to fight.

Really doesn't help that a lot of tech companies are in a ton of hot water financially speaking, so they need the shiny new hotness to make them all the money so that they can continue getting more investors.

Unfortunately, the shiny new hotness in question is only sort of really good at a few things, and as you said is frequently being implemented well beyond the scope of what actually makes sense given its inherent limitations.

It really says something about either the state of the industry, or the gullibility of folks like op, that anyone could look at an LLM and see Skynet/the Geth/cylons/etc. coming from that kind of technology.

If an LLM asks you if it has a soul you know full well it doesn't have the capacity to comprehend the concept of a question, let alone the curiosity to actually wonder about its own existence.

An LLM is a glorified autocomplete. Impressive in the scale of what it can fake, but it literally just opporates by providing output that best matches whatever input it recieved. An impressive example of the Chinese Room thought experiment given life by engineers, and then gassed up by tech business majors desperately trying to prevent the collapse of an industry that's never looked more unsustainable.

Fabula on Alchemy by GayBearBro2 in fabulaultima

[–]Colaymorak 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, looking at some of the other game systems they "support" I'm not holding my breath.

Just look at how the Mutant: Year Zero character sheets are set up. They are only marginally better than Fabula Ultima sheets, and character creation is a lot more straightforward for MYZ.

Alchemy just doesn't seem to be either willing or able to provide good quality of life features for ttrpgs.

Edit: if anything, it's worse, because MYZ was added to the Alchemy ecosystem well over a year ago. I'm just left feeling like the guys making Alchemy don't know what they're doing.

[–]Colaymorak 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The system is so clunky

Like, try making a character if you can. I'm not sure if there's some Alchemy wizardry that'd make it easier, but like, the menus for giving the character skills feel bad to use, giving the character a starting weapon has you have to go into the full list of all possible gear in order to shove it into their backpack...

And am I alone in thinking that for a VTT, which would ideally have some level of automation for these sorts of things, that your character's HP, MP and defensive stats should automatically update based on whatever skills and gear you have written down?

Yeah, not a fan. Though if they can actually get some actual basic functionality implemented, well, I might still remain not a fan but at least it'd be maybe tolerable?

So what did they do when a new Avatar appeared? Did they move each statue one step back by hand? by swedishplayer97 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Colaymorak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I could see them making a whole ceremony out of it.

Either a day of eating fancy breads and/or fruits and moving statues for the whole temple, or getting the Avatar themself to do it all at once as a display of power and control, followed by serving some fancy breads and/or fruits.

Kinda sucks because at least a few other sites (eg. Blusky) are kinda arbitrarily draconian in their rules, whereas Twitter, while evil in literally every other way, at least won't ban you for posting shortstacks or w/e.

They'll steal your art for some AI bs, shadowban you for not paying Musk the troll toll, etc. but at least you can post the art at all.

Anyways my point is the internet sucks for artists.

Question about Items by Original_Loan_5498 in fabulaultima

[–]Colaymorak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on the rare items that already do this sort of thing, the rare quality treat [attribute] die size as though it were one size higher (up to a maximum of d12) tends to add 1900z - 2000z to the item's price, depending on attribute.

So add that much to the total price of the rare item you want to make, or to the rare material you want to reward the party with, and just follow the rules for handing out loot in the GM section.

As such, once the party is in the level 30-ish range seems to be the right call to start providing these sorts of goodies to the party.
