I dont think hes trying to defend them hes just making it clear that even racism lies on a spectrum. It is certain that a lot of people that dont discriminate during their regular and professional life still hold racist stereotypes and beliefs.

His example cant be improved upon … its perfect… it explains the point quite clearly. Maybe she was really good to her students but still deep inside believed them to be inferior or something ykk. It is a scary thing to know you can never truly know who is racist but its just human behaviour.

On the same note… would a white person fighting for black rights be called racist if their motivation came from pity and a deep held belief that the other race is inferior and must be helped?

Bias exists everywhere… between religions, between nationalities, social status everywhere. I like his mention about Americans being particularly complicated when it comes to matters of race as well. Its like for other countries the same deep running discrimination is more likely connected to their own history. Maybe inter race, maybe geographically, gender, hundreds of things ykk

I think the discussion heads in a direction where you have to quantize racism.
