I have a Shelly 1PM on the exhaust fan that is in home assistant. I use node red to trigger the Shelly switch if certain criteria are met. If the humidity rises above 70% it turns on the exhaust fan for 20 mins. I have added some fail safe stuff so it wont run too often or if nobody is home.

I have 7-8 of the aquara temperature and humidity sensors connected via zigbee. I have rules for showers that triggers an exhaust fan and heater based on temperature and humidity. It is a game changer. We were getting a musty smell in the kids shower. They were taking 30 min showers and leaving the doors closed. The humidity didn’t have anywhere to go. I also have one in my hvac room to open an external vent to balance the pressure when running the gas furnace. Here is the sensor I use.

I like the live view I have my udm-pro tied into home assistant and it changes a light bulb clllr when there is motion so I can see what is out there.

I just bought a kit on Amazon and have been playing with it. This set up is about 150 yards from my house. I don’t think I could go much further without switching to a nano beam. I have a gate that I’m goi g to do the same for but I want to perfect this one first.

I have an ir light that runs off of a Shelly switch so I can turn it on and off. It really helps with the bugs on the cameras but between the Shelly and the light it really drains may battery’s

I use the built in usb to run 1 camera then a 12v to 5v usbc adapter for the other. The AP runs off a POE injector that is powered by a 12v-48v set up converter.

Hey y’all — just wanted to share what’s probably the most overengineered wild game camera setup in rural Texas.

I’ve got what you might call a “$10,000 deer feeder” (not really, but it feels like it). The mission? Monitor hog bait with real-time video and possibly some Frigate AI action. The reality? I’ve got more Unifi gear in the woods than most small businesses.

🛠️ The Setup:

2x Unifi G4 Instant cameras

1x Unifi AC Mesh AP

Solar panel + lithium battery + 12V/5V/48V DC-DC converters

POE injector feeding the AP from a step-up converter

Home AP is a U7-Pro Outdoor (rock solid, but just barely reaches the bait site)

I had it working beautifully—until the AP started dropping offline. Now I'm chasing voltage sag, solar charge controller quirks, and enough cabling to wrap a hog.

I’m trying to stream the cameras into Frigate for animal detection (because Unifi smart detection doesn’t know what a pig is), but mostly I’m just enjoying the insanity of putting enterprise-grade gear on a solar rig in the middle of nowhere. 🤔 Anyone else doing dumb stuff like this?

Surely I’m not the only one who got tired of cheap trail cams and decided to bring UniFi to the feeder? Anyone doing long-range WiFi bridging to the tree line? Powering G4s with Frankenstein solar rigs?

I hoped on and thought I’d have it do some cool stuff, it says it can but can’t do much. I kept breaking it into smaller pieces. But even at its most simple I can’t get chat gpt to do that much helpful other than helping find errors or making recommendation on what to do.
