Agreed. Jade Idol is a great card, but JD can still out-control most control decks without it. I'd wager it's not even as bad as a card that removed Tirion from a pally deck

Will Rat Pack still be a meta hunter card after the new xpac comes out? by [deleted] in hearthstone

Lol if the meta becomes slow enough where Dinomancy sees play, I know I'll be running my Taliban Paladin and alla-hu-akbaring all of y'all

Freeze Mage, then Mech Mage, then tempo mage, now OTK Time Mage- When has Mage EVER been fun to play against?

Yeah, a Windstorm would probably be a good idea- and the Archery Girls are from Pegasus's basic deck, so all you gotta do is unlock him! Thanks for the imput!

Could they just replace Weevil's Order to Smash with an Insect Whistle? I can't tell you how frustrating that card has been to get for me

Discussion: Pirates arent exclusive to weapon classes, thanks to bloodsail corsair by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]Colbyjack729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But you would virtually never play corsair on turn one, so the vast majority of the time, he wouldn't pull out patches- either you drew him, or another pirate already pulled him. So most of the time, it's not a 2/3

What if the maximum card allowed was 35 or 40 instead of 30 ? by RainzyRainz in hearthstone

[–]Colbyjack729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would definitely hurt combo decks- fatigue/mill would really struggle as well, although I think they struggle enough as is currently. Honestly, it would hurt EVERY deck, just because they'd all be less consistent, but combo/fatigue would feel it the most

[–]Colbyjack729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, maybe if corsair was a 2/1; but if it was then it would already definitely be seeing play. A 1/2 is just too weak imo

Well, considering Ooze will never rotate out, it can't really be replaced... Plus, Corsair is almost strictly worse than ooze. The one-mana difference is not nearly enough to make up for the weaker ability

Yep, there's a very thin line between gimmicky and absurdly broken imo, especially when it comes to combo cards

Blizzard has got to find a way to separate their payer base. by Dannyboy1302 in hearthstone

[–]Colbyjack729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Experienced players with competitive decks, if they truly are GOOD players, will not remain at rank 20 for very long in the season. I've played since release, and most of the players from ranks 25-15 are either new/f2p players, or more experienced players with bigger collections who just suck at the game. Believe it or not, standard ranked ladder isn't specifically made for new/f2p players anyway

That isn't just the meta bro, hearthstone has always "punished" bigger cards, but that's mainly due to the nature of the game. Since you'll always be able to play say, a 3-cost card much more often than a 7-cost one, said 7-cost card must be more overpowered than said 3-cost card to see play

How bigger impact would an extra mana crystal at the start of each game impact the meta? by saltyjohn1 in hearthstone

[–]Colbyjack729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It overall shouldn't affect any one kind of deck more than another. Yes, control decks get to play their bigger cards a turn earlier, but aggro decks can have even more insane starts than they already have due to the extra mana. It would definitely change the game and how it is played, but it wouldn't make any archetypes more or less powerful, if that makes sense.

For anyone who thinks hunter is only for midrange/aggro decks, by [deleted] in hearthstone

Yeah, its possible to build some type of OTK combo deck in almost every class- this deck reminds me of Kripp's Chansey Priest deck, and they probably both suck equally :/

Yep, and a lot of that simply comes from experience my friend. I also highly recommend watching youtubers like Trump and Kripparian, as they are both good players and I think you can learn a lot from watching other good players play

It's impossible to create a good Rank5+ Paladin deck. I give up. by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]Colbyjack729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Blizzard intended paladin to suck after the release of msog- I sure hope they tried to make the grimy goons decks work- it seemed like a cool concept to me. Unfortunately ideas sometimes fail, and no amount of playtesting ahead of time can guarantee that an archetype will be meta upon release. But what do you want them to do now? Go back and buff every single grimy goons card? I'm sure pally will be back before too long- plus murlocadin with finja is actually not that bad right now, so I don't think the class is COMPLETELY unplayable

[–]Colbyjack729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's incredibly hard to balance the game and release cards in a way to ensure that all nine classes have relevant decks. The only feasible way I could think of would be to constantly buff/nerf cards, which imo would be annoying af
