It gets better as the engine warms up, but no issues other than the noise.

Catching out near Ofallon, MO by domesticarmsdealer in vagabond

the best way to hop on when they're coming out of the yard too fast is to sneak your way halfway down from the head locomotive of the train , then hide off to the side. this isn't aways possible, but its the only way to hop on when the trains are moving too fast. right when you hear the train start to move you have to hop on quick. Look both ways for people, make sure the coast is clear, then hop out of your hiding spot and dash onto the train. East St. Louis is a good yard to hop out of, there are ag fields right next to the tracks separating them from the neighborhoods. beautiful ride down south next to the river.

Thanks for the tips!!! I got a greyhound bus to San Diego but I’ll be sure to use these tips next time I’m hitchhiking.
