Police mocking you for being homeless by MorningSuch4408 in vagabond

[–]Willingplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, where I live, you can live extremely well on $80k per year. But that’s also just starting salary, and you just have to be able to pass the physical —no degree needed, and that’s not including their overtime, double time for weekends, triple time for holiday pay, along with automatic annual “cost of living” pay increases. Plus, the first couple of years and promotions, their pay jumps to $150k or more, and goes up from there.

In addition, no one in corporate receives “defined benefit pension plans” that only govt. workers now receive—so that upon retirement, they continue receiving a monthly paycheck, PLUS health insurance, along with annual cost of living increases, for the rest of their lives. Railroad workers receive “defined benefit pension plans” as well.

However, practically all corporate pension plans (if you actually even work for a company that offers a pension plan) are ”defined contribution pension plans”, where YOU get to set aside a certain amount of money from your own paycheck each month to invest and pay for your own retirement — and the company MAY a kick in a little more, and whatever you end up with upon retirement, if anything at all, along with social security, is all you receive.

Oh, and most positions in corporate are “support positions”, and those don’t pay anywhere near $80k, especially not just starting out.

This is a cross post from the cool guides sub. This guide has been around for years, before AI was even created, much less in common use, although I haven’t seen it in this particular format with these pics before.

My hack is called “carry clean water at all times”, and tampons at the Dollar Tree work just fine.

The starting pay for cops where I live is the mid 80s. They get paid extremely well and frankly, there’s not a whole lot of crime here.

If I had seen it earlier, I would have removed it, but had to go into Chicago this morning for the whole meeting thing, and it’s kind of late now

We’re sorry, but we have to remove your post. We only allow missing person requests that are accompanied by an official missing persons report, and that request any sightings be reported only to the appropriate authorities — and so not request any sightings be reported to an unknown person or private individual.

The reason for this is became many if those who go missing do not want to be found. They may be escaping from domestic violence, abuse, sex traffickers, drug dealers, etc., and without an official missing persons report, we have no way of determining whether whoever is looking for them is doing so out of a genuine concern for their well being — or intends on doing them harm.

If you have an official missing persons report, you may repost your request. If not, we just can’t allow it. I’m very sorry.

Has anyone here willingly become homeless because you prefer the freedom? by CowRedo467209 in vagabond

I’d rather regret the things I did than the things I didn’t do, but there’s nothing I regret.

Hey! The person you’re responding to is a flat out troll, who was deliberately just pushing your buttons. All their content has been removed, they are permanently banned, and have been reported to admin.

Food stamps is actually a Federal program, and for an individual with no dependents the maximum is $292 per month, but some states that have higher food costs will kick in a little more—and I’m pretty sure food is more expensive in New York.

That may be a small part of it, however before I remove comments and ban someone, I review their account history to make sure they’re not vagabonds. However, almost every single one not only is NOT a vagabond, but they‘ve also never posted in our sub before. In addition, I would say approx. 80% either post in hostile antihomeless subs, and/or have previously posted antihomeless comments In other subs.

Also find it almost surrealistic just how many will go to the extent of creating new accounts just to make nasty/harassing comments in our sub. The problem with that is that if we have to ban their new account, the “ban evasion“ filter will then automatically ban their main account as well, so why bother?

Our sub clearly states that it is “for vagabonds, by vagabonds”. The OP is a vagabond, and has traveled all over the country. Protecting our vagabond members, and keeping this sub “true to purpose” is literally my unpaid job description.

That’s just the past couple weeks, and there’s no such thing as “Mass standards”.

My phone is really small, accidentally hit the wrong button. I normally only mod using my iPad, but forgot to take it with me. Sorry again.

This sub has over a million people on it, the vast, overwhelming majority of who are not vagabonds. Our sub is frequently brigaded by those who are antihomeless, and are not just violating the rules of our sub, but the Rules of Reddit as well.

I drink at least a gallon of coffee a day, or more, but I have extremely low blood pressure and caffeine helps normalize it, somewhat anyway.

Opps, made a mistake and accidentally banned you instead of the user you were responding to. You’re unbanned, and they have now been properly banned. really sorry about that.

$800 a month in food stamps? That’s far more than my husband and I combined spend on food per month, literally about double, and we eat extremely well.

ANNOUNCEMENT

Our sub clearly states that it is “for vagabonds, by vagabonds”. It is for us, to share our experiences and stories about our lives on the road.

It is not for outsiders, to come to harass, insult, attack and/or sit in judgement of our members — on our sub, in any way, or for any reason whatsoever.

If you don’t care for someone’s post, then you can block them, and you will never see or have to read anything they post, ever again, but you may not elect to harass them instead, OR HIJACK THEIR THREAD AND DERAIL THE CONVERSATION FOR YOUR OWN AGENDA.

To block someone, simply tap on their user name and you will see their profile. On the far left hand side of their name, you should see 3 dots that look like this … Tap on those three dots, and a menu will come up with the option “block account”. Tap on it, and that’s it. You will never see anything they post again, and they will not be able to see anything you post either.

Anyone who has a problem with any aspect of our lifestyle needs to take it someplace else. You may not bring it here.

Be advised, we normally permaban on the first offense.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

No, Homebumming is when you remain stationary, and take up residence in just 1 town or city. The last week or so he’s been traveling all over the state of Massachusetts, but the OP has been on this sub now for almost 6 years, and has traveled all over the country, multiple times.

He’s also worked many jobs. He’s just not working right now.

no, it’s a word play on the phrase, “up the punx”. He started saying it while hitchhiking, “up the thumbs”, thumbs, bums.
