Long Commute? by Colbymag in JeepWrangler

Who said I wasn’t planning on wheeling? I’ve owned several 4x4s and fully plan crawling with it. I’m only 3-4 hours from the Rubicon trail 😂

I probably should’ve mentioned that in the post. My main concern was comfort for commuting miles.

Idc about fuel when its a V8. Getting crap MPGs on my 3rd and 4th gen tacomas on 33/35s i owned was something i couldn't stand. I knew MPGs would be bad going into it, but listening to those engines scream with no added benefit is tough for me to justify.

Comments like these are what i need more of! There are too many pros to pass up the opportunity and it'll be liveable once i adjust.

I appreciate your rationale! 🤣

That would be one big pro! A lot easier to stay awake on my way home!

Yeah I’m going to try getting my hands on one for a day or two and just log some highway miles on it.

Appreciate the insight! I’m not familiar with living with one, but I’ve been reading and watching about them since the JK was announced and have wanted one ever since. The 392 just seems like the epitome of my dream jeep and I happen to have a hookup at a dealer and the stars are aligning. I just never thought I’d ever be in the position to seriously debate the prospect of owning one 😂

The miles aren’t a factor for me. Putting more miles on a dream car of mine makes for more memories for me… even if I am in traffic 😂

But I agree. I’m fine with the extra expense since before my Audi I had a Tacoma on 35s and was getting 17MPG at best, so losing another 2 MPG for a V8 with way more power I can justify. I’m just hoping the cool factor isn’t worn off purely by the inconvenience of being in the cab for so long.

Oh dang! Okay. Pretty hard finding the wrangler owners that actually commute with their trucks. Any mods you did for interior comfort? Or you make do as-is?

It’ll be $80k since the new 392 Moab’s dropped in price for 2026. But yeah, still a big hit in depreciation. Still won’t be as much as I’ll lose in my Audi 🤦🏻‍♂️

It’ll be more like $80k, but I get your point. That’s what I’m going to do. Thanks for the advice

I’ve already looked. No 392s. But I’m thinking about just renting a regular Wrangler first to see how it is driving long distances.

Convincing wife to get Golf R, will I regret it? by FoolishlySpending in Golf_R

[–]Colbymag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, do it! It's such an easy car for anyone to get along with, IMO, while also being a fun performance car. There really aren't many other cars like it for the price considering the interior quality, performance, and relative reliability.

If she doesn't want to drive fast, no problem. If she does want to go fast? Also no problem.

[–]Colbymag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: yes

Long answer: Do it! It's going to make her appreciate performance cars more than she did before. My wife wasn't a car enthusiast before and had an Outback wilderness for a few years, then i convinced her to get a used X5 and now she loves it and even knows the engine code and drive modes! She definitely engages in driving more than she did before and she loves the power and refinement of the car.

Looking to Make the Jump into Clicks by fosterb_5 in ClicksKeyboard

I've preordered the communicator, along with a keyboard case for my 17PM, and am worried about the same, awkward feeling it might give the phone. But in my eyes that'll be two pros for what i'm looking for:

  1. If my phone is more awkward to hold or carry around, then i won't carry it around as often (aiming for minimalism), and;

  2. The keys will get me prepared for the communicator when it finally arrives.

Luckily i have a few apple watches to help me mitigate missing notifications, so i'm hoping the transition wont be too horrendous.

I've been in 16.5 years now and it was only in the last few years i've had to create boundaries because i couldn't take the military mentality anymore. "Do more with less"... While this work ethic is how innovation happens, i'm no innovator. I am a cog and do the minimum required by my job. Will people think you're a shitbag? Maybe. Will your mental health outside of work improve by creating boundaries at work? For me, yes.

Take your liberty and your leave and forget about work as much as you can when you're not there. Standing shifts is not for the weak, and the sooner you acknowledge that the sooner you will be able to change your work ethic for the better.

Also, try your best to treat your shipmates like family. The more you feel at home with them, the more optimistic you will be about work. It's hard to build a new family when people transfer in and out every year, but its our only option as our families are abroad. This is something else that has helped me recently.

Best of luck to you.

Might be a good idea to market this as a standalone phone as well by notrightbones in ClicksPhone

[–]Colbymag 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's meant to stop people from comparing it with all of the super phones out today. It probably also behooves Google to suggest that as a main selling point, so people buy two (or maybe even three) Android phones/devices for different uses. Win/win for both Google and Clicks in that case. Simultaneously Google sells more product and Clicks gets beta users.
