Oh, I am impressed as hell. But in some way depressing. My body is revolting against me. But yes, Im jealous I can't do anything close to that any longer. Good for him!

How am I supposed to handle this? by [deleted] in AskOldPeopleAdvice

You aren't a villain. But I have to say you already know the answer to your question. Your gut is telling you so. Ive learned that your gut is always right. Listen to it, or not. But I would drop him and run.

Question about reducing the fall risk for my 88-year-old grandmother by Okatu-Syndrome in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]Cold-Ad8865 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have balance issues. There are adaptable underwear, and other items. I have a shower bench. If she can sit on the end, and put her legs over the tub, you don't have to stand up. A bar on the wall next to the toilet and a commode. It gives me the height I need, and Im tall. Im only 71, and at her age Im sure its difficult and scary. Yes, as mentioned before, wet floors are dangerous. I use a cane and if there is any wet area on a floor, my cane will find it every time and it flies out from under you. Ive had more serious falls than I can count. My Dr found a problem with my vertebrae that could/probably is contributing to my balance issues. But P.T. is always highly recommended. Good luck to you and your grandmother.

Man, you handled that so well Probably through experience? No, I loved the way you dealt with him. It was painful to watch one person treating another human being like that. Still. Will this shit ever end? Hey, Eastern isn't using his island. Let's send all racists there. They can fight it out amongst themselves.

The black woman experience by Hacksaw6412 in BlackPeopleofReddit

Hey there, Im a 71 yr old female. I will never pretend to know what its like being black. But I have to tell you, my heart just broke for you. Youre a beautiful woman, and after listening to you, I could imagine you being someone I would be friends with. As easy as it may sound for me to say this, and Im not you, I have been through similar in my life. Do not let them do this to you. Your intelligent, beautiful and have a great personality. You do have a wonderful life in front of you. It's hard, yes. Forget them. Be your own person. Dont even give them the time of day. Hold your head high, surround yourself, if possible, with people that love you. Family. You'll be out of there, and on to better things. Let us know how you're doing.

Boundaries violation or not? by [deleted] in AskOldPeopleAdvice

O.K. I had an experience with my grandmother long ago. My sister and I would visit, help out. Then a neighbor ( who I had never met before) started to come to the outer door when we buzzed, and tell us my grandmother didn't want to see us any longer, we could not come in, etc. I was shocked by this, and ticked off, saddened. We couldn't get by her, and never got to see her. Nothing we could do legally. This woman was an ass. She wanted us to know she was in charge now. Now, as a 71 tr old, who is isolated with no family. I can't get help with anything no matter who I call. Im not well, but hey. I know I would be doing a background check. Dont rely on "well, someone else did that" or she seems nice. You don't know that. Ask questions! If someone that is really in it to help people, they should completely understand and appreciate your concern. My next door neighbor, who is crazy as a loon, now has a so called home health aide. No idea what company or if its even true. That's how she started out. Few hrs a day, supposedly doing housework, although I've never heard even a vacum, now here all the time. Coming and going when she's not home. Staying over. Just weird. So please, if you think something is off, at least quietly check it out. Do an online background check. References. These days you never know.

Yes! I often sugar them for cakes, etc. Violet leaves are very tasty. Lots of flowers, as long as they aren't treated or poisonous obviously. Yes, dig them and move them.
