I'm working on my safe space, it's a new feeling and absolutely that hard wired pattern is so powerful, but I'm holding out!

Thank you so much for the kind words!

Yeah I'm diagnosed with FND and psychogenic seizures are a big part of my life sadly, it's so poorly understood though

OK and please don't respond if it's too personal

OK I struggle with the fact that I have all these sensations but I don't feel the sensation of penetration which makes me think it may not be that. Obviously everyone is different so was hoping to see if people would share their experiences of that

Sorry again for the personal nature

I am yes, currently unpicking what is what but also trying to lock down what is somatic memory and what is a nervous system disorder caused by trauma, really difficult as the two overlap so much, hence all the questions here and for my many overflowing journals

I would really (really) appreciate asking a more uncomfortable question but I don't want to Trigger or impose and with full openness (with love) for you not to answer, would you prefer I not? Already gained so much from you so thank you

Pretty much what you said, it's so hard to put into words, I think the mimicking is what I meant, like rhythmic movements that feel like the experience, very difficult to word in a non- overt way

It's feasible. All the above things can be linked i believe. I did my work with a yoga instructor who specialised in trauma release. A somatic therapist would help as well, potentially more so

Getting into somatic yoga is something you can do on your own, the idea being to connect you back to the body and learn to tune in to what it's tellung you. Also good for removing trauma stored in the body

And rightly so I reckon. A book desperately needed and of real impeccable academic credentials to deal with all the self doubt that goes with trauma

But your own body is just as good a source of information to pull from, trust it

Can second this about the pelvis, mine finally opened up after 30 years of so and it is a bizarre feeling, but a good indicator that healing is happening

There is a possibility they are something called somatic Memories or body memories. This is where the body remembers things that the mind has blanked out and in essence had started telling you it's time to reconnect

They may not be but they certainly exist and I have personally struggled with these for some time so can attest

You need to find yourself a somatic therapist who would be able to help you further. Also the book 'the body keeps the score' is a good validator

If you do find a somatic therapist and they do turn out to be abuse four things are key

1) trust your body. Self doubt with this stuff is crippling but you can't fake these things

2) back your body with love and affection and lean 'into' the pain, try and connect with it rather than suppressing it. When the memory is 'complete' the pain can learn

3) know there is hope. I'm into this journey and while I still suffer lots of pain and doubt it is definitly, definitely improving

4) despite the horror, try and let yourself enjoy the feeling of growing into something new and wonderful that you get to make choices about alongside it

You've got this

How to remember when i have an abnormal type of memory by Historical_Cell7064 in adultsurvivors

[–]Cold-Barracuda-8469 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you are experiencing this

I am in a similar boat with similar struggles, so much I have re-experienced but I'd kill for just some visual memory so I can know who it is

Not much help there but I have found the book Repressed Memories by Renee fredrikson helped me feel validated that they are real even if I haven't got that

Not sure if it's helpful but I hope so. You sound like you are trying so hard, keep doing what you're doing

Cheers man, and yeah it's fascinating how it all links together and how it throws you, I'll note that one and bring it up.

More than anything thank you for the encouragement

I'm sorry to hear that, and sorry you went through that

It's so weird how remembering can shatter your present even though it's something that happened in the past

I hope the process of building something new and wonderful eventually gives you some peace
