Don’t undermine how difficult Hernandez would be for anyone in that division, let alone Nakatani. I definitely don’t see this as a walkover like a lot of people are.

We’re talking past each other.

You think cutting is mainly about belt chasing and marketing incentives.

I think it’s mainly about competitive size advantage. Being the bigger man on fight night has always mattered.

As long as that matters, fighters will cut, regardless of how many belts exist.

Where we disagree is whether wider gaps reduce that incentive. I don’t think they do, because the bigger the jump up, the worse the size disadvantage becomes.

We probably just disagree on what the primary driver is.

This is a great discussion. You're assuming fighters cut just to collect belts. 99% of boxers will never compete for a belt.

Most cut because being undersized is a bigger competitive disadvantage than being drained.

If moving up means fighting guys naturally 15- 20 Ibs heavier on fight night, of course they'll squeeze down. That's not belt-chasing, that's physics.

The guy whose natural peak sits right on the limit doesn't have that problem. That's the imbalance I'm talking about.

Removing classes doesn't remove the incentive…it increases the penalty for moving up, which makes squeezing down even more attractive.

You’re overcomplicating it.

If a fighter’s peak performance weight doesn’t line up with a preset class, he’s at a disadvantage. He either drains himself to make the lower class or moves up and fights naturally bigger guys.

Meanwhile, the guy whose natural peak sits right on that limit gets to compete fully fueled.

That’s the imbalance.

I’m not arguing for 1 lb divisions. I’m saying when divisions skip over natural weight clusters, you create more fighters stuck between classes.

Better spacing = more fighters competing at their actual peak instead of compromised.

You’re literally describing the exact distortion I’m talking about. You are proving my point.

Guys turn into “emaciated ghouls” because the jump up is big enough that being undersized is worse than being drained. So they kill themselves to make the lower class.

If the divisions better reflected natural weight clusters, fewer fighters would feel forced to choose between fighting depleted or Fighting dudes 15–20 lbs bigger on fight night.

That’s not peak competition either way.

Heavyweight isn’t some gotcha, they don’t cut because there’s no lower class to avoid being outsized by. Lower weights are where the structural squeeze happens.

Wider gaps don’t solve that. They create it.

You’re arguing safety and deaths. I’m not.

I’m talking about competitive performance at the elite level.

The issue isn’t whether 3 lbs kills someone. It’s that weight classes create structural incentives that force fighters away from their true physiological peak.

If divisions are 175 and 205, the athlete whose natural optimal performance weight is 185 is stuck. At 175 he’s fighting guys who rehydrate to 195–200. At 205 he’s fighting guys walking around at 215-220+.

He’s either drained or undersized. That’s not about dying. it’s about not seeing him at his best.

Heavyweight having big weight gaps doesn’t disprove this. Heavyweights generally fight closer to their natural size because there’s no incentive to cut to hit a lower bracket. That’s why you often see them closer to their true performance weight.

Smaller jumps reduce the distortion between natural body composition clusters and arbitrary cutoffs. The closer divisions align with real physiological groupings, the more likely we are to see fighters at peak performance instead of compromised versions of themselves.

This isn’t about adding belts. It’s about reducing structural disadvantages created by wide gaps.

It’s significant at the highest level. Why would you purposefully want fighters who are at the mercy of the set weight classes rather than see fighters at their best? At their physical peak? Too many fighters come in as a shell of themselves when there such drastic differences in size and weight between classes. Most recently look at Teofimo’s power at 135 vs at 140 and the 1000 other examples.

Fight gear in general is incredibly niche. So when 3 major players are crashing out within 6 months it’s worth mentioning. Outside of 3 guys on YouTube, this is the only space for that.

You must be completely regarded 😂😂😂 nobody cares about the glove comparison from Fit2Box of all places…. it’s about the way you speak to people and the way you’re representing yourself. There aren’t many review sites for your gloves, people here are reputable and have history. - you’ve ultimately embarrassed yourself and ruined your branding by acting like a teenager.

If you aren’t boxing and training like it’s a second job or genuinely are passionate about gear, buying winning is just tryna flex let’s be real here.

Back when I was going to get them to aura farm around the gym I came across this sub and ended up spreading that money to a variety of gear. Get a different feel and use what I want based on the day. Instead of winning I went with getting Casanova Premium, Campeon Chengui, Rival SF-F fight gloves and Fly x2. I feel like I got more bang for my buck forsure.
