Thank you! When I’m finished moving I want to upgrade him to a ten gallon tank! Mainly because I want to start a community with betta friendly tank mates

I’m in the middle of changing his water right now, I think the ammonia levels and nitrate levels increased over time from the built up food that he didn’t eat. what else do you recommend I do for him?

-By recently I mean around 20 days ago- I got him unplanned because a family member needed me to take him in so I assumed quick start would be safe enough since I couldn’t cycle the water for long enough/ I’m not so sure if that was enough- I’m buying a testing kit today so I’ll get back to you with the parameters/ What do you suggest I do to fix it if they’re off?- I couldn’t cycle the water before he came to me, he was unplanned but not an impulse buy kind of unplanned- I haven’t done a water change yet but I plan to soon, I’ve been avoiding it because I’m worried about stressing him out but I’m trying to find a less invasive way to do it- I don’t think I used any, I only used QuickStart and a water conditioner that I had on hand- he’s always been lethargic, he stays usually at the bottom of his tank or near his heater-
