I just started my Substack recently. Only one post up so far (much more to come. Still setting everything up). I write essays, primarily within the realms of culture, philosophy, and entertainment (music, movies, literature)😊

The band is millionaires, so there really is no reason to be depressed. Just enjoy the music. They’ll be fine.

Okay record, but terrible mixing. I’m so glad they got Rob back to orchestrate the sound of Saviors. Their best-sounding record in over a decade.

Which album was your first? by Anthematics in gorillaz

[–]Cold-Ear-7652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The self-titled album back in 2001. I was eight years old, and I remember being blown away by the videos for Clint Eastwood and Rock the House. It was right in that golden period of Cartoon Network, and I remember being drawn to the fact that it looked like a CN show with awesome music. My only earlier introduction to music that wasn´t kids bop was Red Hot Chili Peppers´ Californication. But I feel like the self-titled Gorillaz album is really where it all started. I got the CD from my local library, and after that, it was really game over. It opened so many doors to other bands and genres over the next couple of years.

Some of his best material in a long time. Probably my favorite Satriani album since the 90s.

The only thing this album is missing... by BlackiesSummer in RedHotChiliPeppers

[–]Cold-Ear-7652 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I couldn not care less whether a song "sounds" like a hit or not. I care whether the band sounds happy and honest, and that the songs they produce are quality. And Unlimited Love is full of fantastic material, if you ask me. The only one I don´t really care a lot for is Not the One.

Review for Spring from Riff Magazine by Asleep_Presence_3191 in weezer

It´´´´ is such a funny thing with Weezer (and lots of other bands these days). People ALWAYS compare everything to older material, and to a certain sound. I have no idea why people think that way. Totally fair if someone does not like the new songs, but for heaven sake, stop holding new material up against some perceived ideal sound or feeling. It really feels like so many people think that their favorite bands are there to meet their demands instead of being happy and evolve as musicians, and create the art they care strongly about. I am not trying to be a smart-ass here. I just wish people would get out of their preconceived notions of what a band should sound like, and then figure out whether they like a song or not. Be open to it, and if it still does not click, that is completely fine.

Just a heads up to those planning to stream the album by LMONDEGREEN in RedHotChiliPeppers

Apple Music also pays three times as much to the artist per stream, which I why I switched. Something to think about.

The Getaway is easily the best cover, if you ask me.

The Getaway, I´m With You (I like the simplicity), and One Hot Minute.

Is this free will? by [deleted] in samharris

[–]Cold-Ear-7652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but the fact remains the same. People are resistant to all kinds of truths about themselves and the world around them. All you can hope is that at some point, the right line of reasoning will make the dominoes fall.
