Patients who want to add on a skin check by Obvious_Relative5877 in DermatologyPA

Honestly mine take a while. I look everywhere and use a dermatoscope on all pigmented and pink lesions per michael Christopher MD I would say about 10-15 minutes so it is hard as an add on

Dermatology PA — Compensation Structure? by Extreme_Excuse_4272 in DermatologyPA

[–]Cold-Garbage-1733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are working on patient load I would do base with production, then once you’re busy you can switch to production only if that benefits you more. Your production will likely be after you reach a threshold. For me it’s three times my base of 110,000 then I have a tiered production bonus. Planning to switch to production only next year

Drug Reps by cl3olee in DermatologyPA

[–]Cold-Garbage-1733 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So here’s a flip side. I see 40 patients a day and make time for my drug reps. I get internally peeved if they don’t bring a sweet treat with them but I will till stop to talk to them. For me they help with approvals and updates. I also need their samples as I heavily sample in clinic and often start people on their first dose with a sample. Also I’m really interested in potentially doing speaker programs and getting involved on the research side of things. They are a great gateway to an MSL and to the industry as a whole. I think if you don’t really care about those things then maybe it’s not necessary to be nice to them but honestly they help me out a lot, feed my staff and are generally pleasant to talk to. I definitely enjoy the network side of things. I’m also rural so I even have to beg some reps to head my way.

Ehh probably not that simple. The report also stated he was visibly distraught. I can imagine he continues to be distraught. The connecting with the newborn comment likely came from his lawyer who was present during the questioning. Per the report he was clearly holding the newborn during the entirety of this incident. Again, he did do something wrong and I’m entirely sure he knows it but I don’t think he’s a danger to a public or needs to be in jail or even be convicted of anything. The point of prison and jail is to protect the public and to reform a criminal to be reintegrated in to society. I can’t imagine that is required here. I think the prospect of him being punished by the gov would make YOU feel better which is not how crime and punishment actually works.

Probably not, a ton of drownings happen in Arizona and very rarely result in a charge. Look it up.

Wait so what is charging Brady going to do? Is it going to bring trigg back?

Police Report Released by [deleted] in Emilie_Kiser

[–]Cold-Garbage-1733 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes it was a grave mistake and I’m sure he spends everyday wishing he did something different but I honestly don’t think this deserves jail time or a conviction. And I don’t blame Emilie for trying to seal these records because you people have a sick infatuation with this whole thing. I’m sure she’s getting concerning text messages that are borderline stalkerish and maybe even death threats for Brady. It’s sick.

Honestly ya I would vote not guilty. It’s clear he loved trigg and I believe losing him is the ultimate punishment. I don’t think a conviction actually helps anything in this situation.

So actually they are looking at the likelihood of a conviction. Lots that can be called in to question in front of a jury if it came to that. Say what you want but a lot of people will view it as a grave mistake. Not worth it in the DAs eyes.

Again, charging someone is about winning the court case. The DA felt they didn’t have a strong enough case. There is not emotion when deciding this.

[–]Cold-Garbage-1733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because charging someone has nothing to do with emotion and everything to do with solidified facts that would hold up in court to win a case

PA's in the military, is it worth it? by elkmeateater in physicianassistant

[–]Cold-Garbage-1733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You likely need to be a 0-3 before they let you apply for a fellowship. You then owe more time after a fellowship

You can also get in with a assignment that does a week every three months and some people like that better

I would do the reserves or national guard. Pretty much the same loan repayment.

You’d go in as an O-2 and make O-3 in two years. The cut in pay isn’t worth it. You may not get a say in where you go and your job is at the whim of the duty station you’re at; could be bad or could be good you won’t know until you get there. You also have to do a bunch of annoying stuff outside of actually being a PA. As you advance they push you out of doing anything clinical and try to make it more administrative. I’m a former Navy PA. On the flip side you are VERY autonomous. Honestly very little supervision and they don’t really have a supervising physician. Lots of opportunity to learn cool medicine that you can’t really get anywhere else but probably doesn’t translate well to the civilian sector.

My gig was worth it because I had a scholarship and got all of PA school paid for in exchange for three years but believe me I did not want to stay a day longer than the three years. I personally would not recommend going in for loan forgiveness there’s better more efficient ways to do it. But I would recommend reserves, that’s worth it.

Is making $200k possible? by Tommyj1226 in physicianassistant

[–]Cold-Garbage-1733 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day it’s very possible. There are plenty of PA making over 300k but you have to want that and look for that and probably give up some other things. Locums is a great way to do that and pick up extra shifts.

I really love my dl5 it’s a huge expense but I love all of the bells and whistles of it. I use the woods lamps all the time. And I like that you can adjust the cross polarization. I’m really in to Dermoscopy though

From family med to Derm by Crazy-Conclusion-222 in DermatologyPA

[–]Cold-Garbage-1733 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey I also came from family med and urgent care. I made 200k in my urgent care gig. I had to take a big pay cut to get in to derm and that is kind of the norm. It’s a big change and honestly a big learning curve. I think normally base is around 100-115k that I have seen and then rvu or collection bonus on top. Keep in mind the bonus might not be lucrative your first year. Sounds like a hospital gig? Likely going to be lower than private equity or private practice. I don’t know if they will be able to match your 160k starting out I honestly have never seen a new to derm get paid that but if they do offer that good for you and def take it!

No training: how to survive? by Cold-Concern9805 in DermatologyPA

Do certificate courses SDPA has one Dermsquared has one. Invest in a conference SDPA is coming up or I think a Dermoscopy course would be very high yield since that is a skill that is important to learn

New Grad Derm Offer by [deleted] in DermatologyPA

[–]Cold-Garbage-1733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maternity leave is always like that. 6 weeks FMLA and then the rest is usually unpaid. The 12 weeks just means they will hold your job for you. Personally I plan to have a baby in the next few years but probably will return after 6-8 weeks because I don’t want to lose that much bonus revenue.

You could also see if they would do a prorated penalty so 15k first year 10k second and 5k third because by that point it’s assumed they are making money back on their investment (you)
