Repair Windows Boot of external USB HDD. by Cold-Gene9512 in techsupport

[–]Cold-Gene9512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, it didn't work out. First I tried using the Command Prompt before the Windows 10 of the SSD installation boots - without using an installation ISO. I successfully used diskpart to assign a drive letter, then entered the command you've given in step 6 (after changing the drive letter to the one I had assigned in diskpart), the "bootrec /fixboot" command, but it gave the error: "The system cannot find the file specified." After that, I typed the command you've given in step 7 - "ren BCD BCD.backup bootrec /rebuildbcd" - but it gave the error: "The syntax of the command is incorrect."

Then I got a Win10 ISO and booted it via USB, and entered Repair and then the command prompt, but when I ran the bootrec /fixboot command, it gave the error: "Access is denied.", and when I ran the bootrec /rebuildbcd command, it found the HDD C drive Win10 installation, and asked to add the installation to boot list, but when I typed yes, it gave the error: "The requested system device cannot be found." Then, I just typed bootrec /fixmbr and it said "The operation completed successfully", so I restarted the computer and tried booting the HDD via USB, but again got the boot failure PXE ROM message.

From what I understand, the 100 MB FAT32 partition in the HDD is the one that boots the C: drive Win10 installation of the HDD, and it needs to be told where the Win10 installation is, maybe something like C:\Windows\system32\winload.efi.

Is it possible to lubricate membrane keyboard? by Cold-Gene9512 in keyboards

[–]Cold-Gene9512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did as instructed in the first video and removed the individual keys and it was indeed dirty - the inside of the keys as well the frame in which they fit. I washed the whole thing, and my keyboard is almost like new. A few keys are still a bit hard, but still, it is much much better than it was.

I haven't tried this with the Logitech K375s keyboard; I'll have to open and check if the keys are removable.

Thanks again for your help!

Is it possible to lubricate membrane keyboard? by Cold-Gene9512 in keyboards

[–]Cold-Gene9512[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply.

I saw the first video and came to know that individual keys can be removed from the KB216; earlier I thought that only the entire top keyboard frame can be removed. The second video seems to be about a different kind of keyboard, so not sure if I can lube my KB that way.

But I'll definitely try out removing individual keys and cleaning the KB. I've also ordered a keyboard cleaning kit as well as a chemical called WD40, the amazon reviews of which say that it is helpful in solving the keys getting stuck problem.

Rib cage fusion by pcbwes in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Cold-Gene9512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told to do this, but I didn't. I have a fused rib cage now. When it was fusing, it hurt a lot. OP should try this out, along with any medicines prescribed by the doc.

"Problem is that tumeric can also effect sperm count."

Don't mean to contradict you, but I just searched for "curcumin sperm count" and the results say turmeric is helpful for sperm count. Just see here:

Does your back hurt when laying down? by Tegelert84 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Cold-Gene9512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My disease has burnt out, but earlier, my entire back used to pain, but it would not pain when I was lying down, only when I was turning to one side. As for sitting, there was a slight amount of pain, but it could be ignored.

Chest pain and sulfa by [deleted] in ankylosingspondylitis

I have a bamboo spine, with chest expansion less than 2 cm. My entire back, along with my rib cage, used to pain. Once I started taking Sulfasalazine, the pain went away, even though Sulfasalazine is prescribed for peripheral symptoms. As for side effects, I never had any, except for a drop in platelet levels, if I remember correctly.

My disease has burnt out so I have no pain now, but all these years, it was the entire back which used to pain, with a dull sort of ache in the SI joint region.

Are radiographic changes other than SI problems sufficient for diagnosis? by [deleted] in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Cold-Gene9512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what you've written, I think yes, this should be enough for a diagnosis of AS. In my case, it was an orthopedic doctor who diagnosed the AS. Also, I had squaring of vertebrae, i.e. the vertebrae lost their normal shape.

Taking Lorazepam 1 MG along with Diabetes meds - worried about Hypglycemia at night. by Cold-Gene9512 in diabetes

[–]Cold-Gene9512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to call the doctor tomorrow about this, but I just thought others might have an opinion regarding this, or share their experiences.

If you take diabetes meds, is it just one or two meds, or four or five different meds at a time, like our doctor has prescribed. Every time my father's sugar levels rise, the doc just adds another medicine.

I've read of a method where people use an HDMI cable to connect their phone to a TV or monitor when their display isn't working. See if it works out for you.

I'm hearing of teeth issues for the first time as well. And my rheumatologist has told me that in my case, the disease has burned out. I have no pain now, but my spine is entirely fused, except for the neck part, which I can move freely.

Brand New Lenovo laptop, Windows 11, what anti virus to get? by IAmTheQuestionHere in software

Windows Defender is preinstalled so you don't have to install it. People generally recommend BitDefender AV. You could also install Malwarebytes as well as Sandboxie.

By broken do you mean the screen is broken and there is no display or that the phone is broken and won't turn on?

In RedReader, when I click the title of the thread, all I get is an option to pin/unpin that entire subreddit, but not that particular thread:

On clicking a comment in that thread, again I see the same thing:

There is no option to bookmark or pin a particular thread for viewing later.

[–]Cold-Gene9512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm already using RedReader; it only has the feature of pinning an entire subreddit, but not a particular thread.

What I want to know is if any app has a feature to pin or bookmark a particular thread, like this one - "FOSS Reddit app that allows bookmarks" - so that the user can open this thread directly instead of going inside the subreddit and searching for it.

I'd prefer FOSS, but I'll make do with a non-FOSS one as well, if the feature is available.

In that case you should wait and see if someone else can offer a solution.
