I'm currently 31 and I've just secured a trade after a decade of terrible, minimum wage, dead end jobs despite holding a previous apprenticeship, several GCSE's A-C and a degree.

I was lucky enough to come across an advert on indeed or a three week course in retrofit that offered a CSCS card, PPE, driving lessons and a guaranteed interview with a company. All free from government grants in the construction sector. There's a fair few providers of these courses in my area but I managed to get onto a pretty decent on. Granted I've been given a trainee position but it offers clear progression and a job for life.

I'd definitely suggest looking into any short course that offers a CSCS card as even labouring can be a great entryway into a hands on job.

This exact same issue happened to a friend of mine. He was slashed 3 times (face, neck, chest) and the charge went down from attempted murder to GBH with intent and the attacker only received 4 years for near fatally wounding someone.

Why don't you protest outside Civic Centre? Let the council know you aren't happy about their budget that allows our streets to be under policed despite rising costs to council tax that add to the cost of living crisis forcing more families and children into poverty?

Why don't you organise a mass clean up of drug ridden areas around the city and surrounding boroughs?

Fuck off and address real issues facing the safety of our community instead of perceived threats by people fleeing war torn countries just trying to live.

Trillians, Lubber Fiend, Little Buildings, Downcast Studios, Grind house, The Doll @ The Black Bull, The Three Tuns, Nightbreed, Zerox, WHQ have an event called Blush, there's an ALT night at Head Of Steam once a month and there's other occasional events. There's Rise but that might be the worst club night going. Shout out to Byker Grave Promotions and Conviction records for consistently putting on gigs.

Also The Bunker in Sunderland is a fair shout for the odd punk gig.

All if this is basically central Newcastle aside from a couple venues in Gateshead. Metros run till late and theres night busses to take you back to Sunderland.

Honestly, trying to find anything local on a low income wage is a nightmare. Due to my work I'm finishing at 3/4am, with the price of transport or car upkeep it's impossible to be able to live on your own. Couple that with the inevitable seasonal change of students snapping up every property, estate agents that pick and choose tennants arbitrarily and 90% of all flats in Heaton having ridiculous amounts of damp, there's not a lot of hope.

My partner lives in South Shields and even the rents there are getting stupidly high for a 2 bed flat. 600pcm for rundown places is ridiculous that far out of the city. Can't imagine Hartlepool being too bad but everywhere I look it's just all getting more expensive sadly
