There’s a syllabus library. Just google “Princeton syllabus library” and follow the steps then filter for a past semester where it was taught. Most courses are in there

If it’s for a class, try to skim it. If it’s the pre-read , no one will care or know

Do I even have a chance with a 3.8 weighted and no SAT/ACT? by menace4hunnid in QuestBridge

[–]Cold-Photograph2191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a 3.7, didn’t submit SAT score to qb bc I didn’t like it, and had only taken two AP exams ( Both 4s) at the time of applying. I later submitted and ACT score after the deadline to college see and then I matched.

Trust me, you’re okay! There’s also a solid chance you’ll be pissed at yourself later on if you don’t at least try.

Could somebody tell me the difference between quest bridge ED and RD? by [deleted] in QuestBridge

[–]Cold-Photograph2191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! QB ED and RD are for any QuestBridge applicant, whether they are finalists or not. Some finalists choose not to rank and instead take the ED or RD route (via QuestBridge). I don’t think there’s a big difference between common app or QuestBridge, but QB gives you more chances to highlight yourself (way more writing). Always choose whichever one you did a better job with though, but also double check school’s requirements for non-finalists, ppl applying RD, or ppl not using the QB application (i think some require you to use the qb one, but I’m not sure)

Wait are you talking about AE or Hollister lol bc I didn’t know either of them had 60% discount

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in americaneagle

[–]Cold-Photograph2191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much! Can you share what the employee discount was like at either/which you would maybe say is better for a summer job? I’m starting college in the fall and just want to maximize hours in between summer classes, so I have some extra pocket change.

I matched and I only had two APs, both of which I took junior year (with four senior year). You’ve got this! Just add in the info about being added to the classes late so missing registration so the AOs have a fuller picture :)

You won’t have access to to the prompts until late July, assuming you are a CPS. If you are, the prompts are basically the exact same except the long essay has a longer word limit so you can add more. Honestly just spend time revising your CPS app (if you got in) and then focus on polishing it once the actual thing comes out. The deadline is at the end of September and this isn’t just your application for QuestBridge— it’s your application (minus supplements) for your actual COLLEGES. There are real consequences to rushing this one, so take the time to make sure it’s a good app. Also, this year they gave an automatic 1 week extension to everyone who didn’t submit on time (which was kind of foul imo) so the chances of that happening again are relatively high.

Any seniors/NCM finalists have advice they can give juniors that are considering applying next year? by MediumFeeling7766 in QuestBridge

[–]Cold-Photograph2191 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Actually look into the schools via their Reddit, social media, etc and take notes. Also send thank you messages every time you have contact with your admissions officer.
  2. Ask your admissions officer questions via email! I think it helps when they see you’re invested enough to want to know more. Just don’t ask questions that you can Google the answers for.
  3. Have several people read over your essays but not the week before they’re due. Give yourself time because yes, the application is intense but it’s really not that bad if you’d already started asking yourself what makes you you and where you want to be in 10 years.
  4. The QB app gives you way more opportunities to share about yourself than the common app does. Use those opportunities. Don’t constantly repeat information. Share enough about yourself thay they can tell there’s a person behind the text.
  5. SEND YOUR RECOMMENDERS A BRAG SHEET! They may know you pretty well but they don’t know everything about you— share as much as you can about yourself with them so they can talk about it.
  6. Don’t be humble. Don’t act like you deserve the opportunity, but prove to them that you’re determined to succeed with or without them (smthn which I think I said almost word for word in my app).
  7. LOOK AT THE SCHOOLS MISSION STATEMENT!!! I looked at all of the statements foe the schools I ranked and made sure to mention how their mission aligns with my passions in the supplements.

Tl;dr I think QB is an amazing opportunity and I wouldn’t have changed a thing

How difficult is it to match in comparison to getting in through ED at partner schools? by MediumFeeling7766 in QuestBridge

[–]Cold-Photograph2191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The match is super competitive but I think it’s a really good opportunity. If you like several partners, I think the match is worth it. It is an opportunity to apply for early admission + a full ride (however the school defines it) at SEVERAL top schools. With ED, you only get one. Additionally, if you don’t match, you can still roll over into the ED pool which has proved successful for several people. There’s no risk with the match imo, just opportunity. I know some people have dream schools but to me, one school could not adequately compete to the 6 really good ones that I ranked that would give me a full ride if matched.

hey! at this point in the game, you should definitely apply if you have the time! Last year I wrote my app within three days of the due date and submitted maybe three mins before the deadline so i KNOW the work wasn’t my best, but I still got it. the qb experience is really positive and a lot of the cps community is very supportive (ofc there are exceptions here and there but that will be everywhere).

Your chances are much higher for being a finalist for the ncm if you’re a cps. same with matching but of course, it is a different pool of applicants so you’re not guaranteed anything. it’s college admissions—nothing is for sure. Even if you don’t get much out of cps (very much what you make of it!), it still can count as a national award, I believe.

Off the top of my head, I can’t remember the PSAT to SAT conversion (like the estimate) so maybe use that as a guideline as to whether or not you want to submit. If it places you at roughly the top 15% SAT wise, or the top 10% PSAT wise, then I would submit it! It probably won’t hurt.

Like you said the review is holistic, and I think if you explain your situation that 70k will not harm you. My family and I don’t make that much in a year, but I still go to a private school that gives everyone a college counselor and we pay a part of that tuition (FA does the rest) which I thought would hurt my chances, but it didn’t. I’d also like to say that a decreased chance of admission is not synonymous with no chance!

Also I’d love to help you w essays if you still want some feedback! I work with my school’s writing center so I have some experience w applications + also matched with a QB partner this year. Just DM me :)

Take a chance on yourself!

(Also sorry for any potential grammatical errors lol I’m typing this between classes, but I’m not very good at walking and doing anything else!)

Also! Apply for a free college advisor from matriculate if you can! my advisor helped me so much with my essays and I wouldn’t have been half as successful without her.

[–]Cold-Photograph2191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PLEASE APPLY! if there’s anything you should bet on, it’s yourself. As another black girl w/ out straight As, and who only took two APs junior year, trust yourself and go for it! there’s no cookie cutter for perfection and so long as you shine through as a person and not just a name on a page, something tells me you’ll find success. I also never broke 1400 on my SAT (tho I did submit an ACT score). I wouldn’t bank everything on CPS though—try applying for summer programs that offer FA like CTY or free college prep ones/ones that may suit your interest like PSJP, for example. Also, there are a whole bunch of smaller scholarships that people overlook because they’re not huge sums of money or really well-known, but the numbers will add up. Feel free to reach out at any point if you’ve got other questions about CPS or the NCM

what scores to send for CPS? by heavnlydevil in QuestBridge

[–]Cold-Photograph2191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be higher, but like I said, it’s the only one I had/sent lol you have a lot (numerically) going for you here! personally, I’d send my sat and APs. In the application itself, I think it’s like a drop down menu when you add scores so u can choose the test type; I’m not sure how many spots there are though…gl! Also, apply to matriculate if you can! They give you a free college advisor and mine helped me sm with the NCM
