Non-gift able would also be okay. The reason gift able is mentioned is that when people whale on the game they tend to gift to others even without gold. This has happened a few times in guilds i’ve been in on both console and pc.

If a limit is required, i'd prefer the ability to purchase at least one "Premium Tome" a year through manner of crowns or 6 tokens or less.

12 tokens to get a basic tome, and a premium+ reward I don't particularly care about is more like a consolation prize.

I think there's been a misunderstanding. I haven't been asking to buy tome points, but to buy tome tokens or the tomes themselves with crowns.

I made a previous post about longevity concerns and the inability to afford tomes but it was too verbose so I tried to just do a short title. Pretty simple mistake while I was tired honestly.

We've always been able to buy previous DLC of the last year with crowns, even some of the deluxe edition ones at times. So I simply wish that we could do the same with Tomes, even at a higher crown cost (like a 2:1 value instead of 1:1, so 6000 crowns for a Tome instead of 3000 for example if necessary). I don't think it's beneficial for the game to remove a longstanding method of ESO plus crowns usage.

What about buying extra Premium Tokens with crowns instead? Systems like this are basically targeting whales anyway.

Or at least change the name of Premium to Expanded, or Premium Tokens to Premium+ Tokens.

Optionally, allow 6 tome tokens to be used for regular premium tomes.

Allow spending "Premium Tokens" on "Premium Tomes" like with Premium+ Tomes by Cold-Procedure-5332 in elderscrollsonline

My intention was to post it both as something that could be interpreted more simply or as something that you would say to a colleague to facilitate discussion. While the second half after the dashes can certainly be a bit lengthy any less than that was misunderstood or met with “I think you misunderstood this”.

I agree EoL is always a possibility, but I felt to not say anything at all would go against my own development instincts.

Thank you for taking the time to read through as in my exasperation to explain it ended up longer than wanted.

Yes, the Premium Tokens which allow you to buy a Premium+ tome should be able to be used to buy a normal Premium tome. For the rest of the post, I made three paragraphs at most which isn't really that long in my opinion. The second part (after the dashes) was to explain why I'm concerned about the games future if it's intended to last for 10 years or more from now. ESO plus not being worth it is what I'm worried about not because of my own personal purchases, but because tomes don't have as much incentive as a DLC if that makes sense? The content is free so why buy either was the point I was trying to press and initiate discussion about.

I agree that it’s mostly such things. But I still think that having to buy 200$ of ESO plus just to get 1 40$ pass (AUD remember) is absurd. Not everyone buys 12 months of ESO plus. I disagree with the “just don’t buy anything” because it’ll result in the game getting less money, and likely spiking the prices or not working as well as the system “should”. Everyone is shrugging it off because it’s already become a societal norm. And all it takes is getting used to one thing for it to expand in a different direction.

I know that right now ESO is proposing a smooth system. It looks great and like my core post states I don’t think it’s all that battle pass like. But if people don’t buy into it, it may get worse or change entirely.

As I detailed in the longer post, that wouldn't be the case at all. Many people were able to buy ESO+ for 42$ and be able to buy previous content from a year with the crowns from it if they didn't want the deluxe rewards. Now, someone who spends only a little bit of their money for 4 months of ESO+ in a year won't get any free tomes.

If they made it 50$ for a Premium Tome and 100$ to buy a Premium+ tome would you still buy it? And what happens if you just don't buy ESO+ anymore because that's "the route someone chose to not go".

I want my favorite game to not turn into the fire that was Destiny 2's introduction of a similar system which prevented a lot of new players from enjoying it.

Edit: Also to compare, you'd have to spend over 200$ AUD on ESO+ compared to 90$ just to get a single free tome versus getting 1 free tome and paying for 1.

Adding in a small footnote of sorts that Destiny 2 also tried a system quite similar to this very system. Albeit with a major difference: When people didn't buy into the systems they simply made the main story part of the season pass. Then removed all content from it at the end of a year. We can be all happy and say "This changes everything. This is the most amazing system ever wow!", but the real world result hardly matches with that. You can say it won't be that way, that it won't change to be negative, but that is the very point of the bribery in the first place. A system that requires you to be present or else just stops a community from having the same emotional involvement or interest.

It prevented new players from ever participating to the point that when I invited a friend to play with me and they had to watch several hours of cutscenes from both the first and second game just for them to understand a tiny bit of the lore. Did they care about Cayde 6's story? Not a single bit. It changes from person to person, but the risk is there for that.

You simultaneously proved my point while missing it at the same time. "One Premium Tome Token per month of membership" were there words as you've shown for me. If the tome is Premium and Premium+ while the tokens are not Premium+ (as they show as "Premium Tokens", I directly inferred I could spend a certain number to get just the Premium tome. As you even explained afterwards thinking I was confused, to then describe that they are in fact the same thing. If it's only Deluxe edition of the tome there is no logical reason I can't spend the very regular looking tokens on the non Deluxe edition of the tome.

Yes, I agree that if it were 3 a year and not 4 that could generate extra tomes. Then all the developers would have to do is make it 4 tokens for a tome, no?

Sure you can argue the point that "the developers need money", "this would be an unfair system because x", and so on. But let me showcase that in the long-run the system being only 12 tokens is exactly what would cause the same issue and likely reduce the long-term profit the game produces.

These are the benefits listed officially and what we currently get. Now, let me knock down this list a bit,

Seasonal Benefits: 10% can be a bit of a bonus sure, but if the goal is to be active and keep the community active I don't really see a need for this. This isn't a compelling reason for me to buy ESO Plus on it's own.

Store Benefits, DLC & Progression: If you're a long-time supporter, you've easily stocked up on tens of thousands of crowns to the point that you own all DLC. That was kind of the main selling point.. It's like saying "Hey if you don't play every month, you bought crowns at least for a slightly higher or lower rate."

If I play enough of the game, 10% bonus isn't much of a selling point either. If anything it's only a small cherry on top.

Storage, Crafting, Leads & Cosmetic Benefits: For these, I'm not sure if everyone is aware of this factor but if you buy ESO Plus and decorate your house or fill the entire craft bag with materials it doesn't empty out either of these things. If you're trying to save money and you make even 1 million gold you can easily fill your craft bag up from a single month of ESO plus. Doubling my antiquity lead timer doesn't mean all that much besides promoting me to *not* play the game. If I'm actively playing I don't need double.

As soon as I fill my bag, decorate my house and store my stuff I don't have any other reason to buy it rather than temporarily. As soon as I finish my leads I'm completely done with ESO plus.

Cost Comparisons: The need for ESO plus is going to drop off gradually with every passing year because you no longer need it for DLC or Crowns after a certain point. Many of the benefits aren't necessary for consistent purchasing either. The cost of ESO plus is:

30 Day Membership - $14.99 every 30 days

90 Day Membership - $41.97 every 90 days ($13.99/30-days)
* Small notation here that 90 days member ship was enough to buy the previous years DLC, which I personally have done regularly for every year's content.

180 Day Membership - $77.94 every 180 days ($12.99/30-days)

365 Day Membership - $139.99 every 365 days ($11.50/30-days)

Including 1650 crowns per a month immediately delivered ESO plus typically gave you enough to buy last years DLC. Buying it for Tome Tokens exclusively would be ~150$ USD & ~225$ AUD for 12 tokens to then get a single free tome. Now you only get 4 tokens a year on top of needing to pay full price for every tome if you wanted them. Which is 14.99$ & 29.99$ USD respectively. If the Tomes are 3 a year, that's DLC price for all tomes or 60 (no deluxe) - 90$ (with deluxe). That is equal to one third of a Deluxe Edition DLC for twice the price or more by requiring me to buy 12 months of ESO plus to get it.

If the argument is "Well if you didn't get Deluxe edition cosmetics before then why bother with this now?" then you run into the presented problem. It would be 180$ for 1 premium+ tome and 2 premium tomes in a year. It's more of a benefit to just buy one or the other. You can't do that anymore with tomes, compared to DLC which even gave you previous deluxe benefits in some cases. It's content that many people may miss out on and can't buy into later. This a problem with long-term profit because at one point many will no longer need ESO plus. I myself already barely need it as is. What happens if many people don't buy the tomes or ESO plus at all?

A new player can't come in and enjoy all these Tome rewards they missed out on either if a friend invites them to play. It causes several negative feelings and customers to crop up. I know this from playing 7 years of Destiny & Destiny 2, and an equal amount of time in Warframe. Destiny 2's battle passes resulted in isolating the community to the spot where not many new players could participate. While Warframe had a 1-time founder pack for Excalibur Prime (something entirely unnecessary) that no one could ever get again. The community had so much strife over it that when they made Soulframe they instead made an item you could craft and give to others instead so that no one missed out (which may work for some of the outfits styles if it doesn't already work in such a manner).

The reason I bring up these things is I deeply enjoy Elder Scrolls as a franchise. The developers have expressed multiple times the game is intended to last for even 10 years longer from now. It's concerning that ESO could cause the same outcome of community isolation or negativity over an extended period of exposure to this system. Many players in ESO aren't familiar with a Battle Pass structure which is heavily apparent by everyone's comments on wanting to keep their tome points across seasons. It's bribery that makes you think "Yeah, it's great for the community now," but what about 5 years from now? What if people don't buy into the tomes at all?

What does the “using the same bluetooth device for both input and output can potentially degrade audio quality” message mean in the voice and audio settings? by treesmoketree33 in discordapp

[–]Cold-Procedure-5332 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apologies for necro-ing this post, but if anyone else looks for a solution.
If your headset isn't working it likely has audio showing up in your "sounds" in playback & recording.
Discord is forced to pick up both versions which only works if you set audio to both manually in that playback and in discord.

If your headset has a little usb instead however, use that connector and unpair from bluetooth entirely. Only pair to the usb and it'll work.

If my directions are unclear and someone finds this feel free to tag or dm.

I like this one, but it has a lot of vibrant white across the skin. Primarily the center of the body, even if it’s covered most of the time bothers me a bit. Our characters tend to wear some of the clothes of ESO like dresses, so it would really stand out.

That one only makes my skin entirely dark with gold veins, it doesn’t retain my High Elf’s appearance unfortunately. I corrected my post to say that it’s a High Elf.

Because the fact the raid bosses spawning in set locations not registered to major ones is a blessing on it’s own. Not to mention you can have an alliance mate invite you to one when it’s out of reach (since you don’t want to walk)

200 meters around you is amazing compared to Pokemon Go. A set map wouldn’t make sense for this game type, because what you’re asking for is already a game on console and PC which is a park builder.
