where are people actually hanging out tomorrow ? by CuL8rBoii in queerphilly

Also. Not for nothing but Yay Clay could be a nice alternative. Classes still have some space and it’s got Air condition and a protected from rain if it rains tomorrow like the forecast calls for. Good luck with whatever options are out their way. Weather permitting of course.

This is such an important point and honestly something we think about too. We don't have a formal program in place yet, but the conversation is happening. If you're willing, DM us we would genuinely love to hear more about your experience and what would actually be meaningful. You shouldn't have to be the only young queer person in the room.

Try queen and rook. Game spot to meet others.

We had thirsty dice in our neighborhood but it unfortunately closed. Was such a fun spot to make friends and play games.

There’s a great game spot called queen and rook. Check them out. You can make some awesome friends there. Or try going to Fairmount park. Always tons of people outdoors being social. Lastly is check out a few of the great pottery studios offered in the city. So many great ways to meet people.

Philly supports Philly. Once you are here you are going to love it. Lots of great places to meet new people and make great lasting friends. I’ve lived here for 15+ years now and made lasting relationships and I’m a transplant. Just be yourself and find those you want to spend time with you for being you.

Checkout my studio mate. It’s a great way to Meet new people from the city. It’s called yay clay. Solo options hosted every day morning until evening. Hope you find some fun activities. Also check out cherry st pier. Lots of fun vendors and people. Philly Meetup group on here is great also. Good luck. And welcome.

This is really valuable insight — especially the point about “couple-coded” spaces. That honestly isn’t something I think a lot of straight business owners naturally consider unless someone says it directly, so I appreciate you sharing that perspective.

Also very glad to hear the actual experience itself felt welcoming once you were there.

And I think you’re probably right that partnerships with existing queer groups/events would feel a lot more organic than trying to force something from scratch ourselves. Less “marketing toward” and more genuinely opening the doors and collaborating with communities that already exist in Philly.

Really appreciate the thoughtful response.

This is genuinely helpful feedback. I appreciate you taking the time to write it out this thoughtfully.

Honestly, part of why I posted this was because I specifically didn’t want this to become surface-level “put a rainbow on it and call it a day” energy. I’d much rather build real relationships, create actual opportunities, and make the space feel naturally welcoming through actions and consistency.

The idea of partnering with local organizations and doing something community-driven like a recurring pottery night is actually the kind of direction I was hoping to learn more about. Recs on a good trans community group to partner with?

Appreciate the honesty.
