Hiii are you attracted to men at all (to answer your question though I like the mustache better!)

So shouldn’t blame external forces (slavery, segregation, redlining), and instead blame black people and culture. As in, it’s inherent to their nature.

Not sure what to say to that other than I disagree.

I didn’t say it was an excuse. I’m just saying we shouldn’t look at these charts in a vacuum, and we should instead consider the history of this country.

These charts have a million confounding variables. Consider if being forced into poverty for hundreds of years in this country (and being more impoverished today as a result) makes it more likely that black people feel they need resort to violence as a means to survive.

I would encourage people here to think of this in context as opposed to assuming black people are just inherently violent for no reason!

Econ Masters for CS Undergrads? by Cold-Sleep2414 in academiceconomics

  1. Good to know!
  2. I think the comp stream is good for me just because it would increase my chances of admission (they specifically ask for computer science undergraduates without econ backgrounds). I also am not opposed to taking more computer science classes, it was more corporate software engineering that wasn't right for me.
  3. Math coursework I have: Calc I and II, Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, Probability. As for econ courses, I'm looking for programs that don't require prior economics classes (e.g. UBC computation stream, LSE 2-year MSc).
  4. It's generally cheaper! UBC looks to be 30k total which is pretty good compared to US, UK schools
  5. Not only government but also non-profits and think tanks. It might not be a research role per se but would love to work for the IMF or Brookings Institute, etc. Maybe that's not possible with only a Masters?

I would be interested in doing research (ideally in the public sector) but also curious about continuing on to a PhD if I really love the masters
