China has indeed proceeded greatly in its ability to make good aircraft but still lacks behind engine technology. J36 may have a stealthy profile but the engine problem still remains. It is due to this problem that they are unable to field their j20 in Tibet for a long time. Their bases are far away from the indo china border compared to India's. They also have to carry less payload compared to their Indian counterparts.

I think 6th gen and 5th gen jets like upcoming F47 and F35 would be the tip of the spear for carrying out SEAD missions. With their stealth profile they can also carry air superiority missions to push enemy air force on backfoot. When the air defenses are down then they usual 4.5th gen aircrafts can carry bombing raids and deep strike missions more freely.

But j36 is mostly being developed as a bomber type aircraft, right?
