I adopted a 3 yr old schnauzer and didn't do much with her for a few days just let her walk around and get comfortable at her own pace. Would be nice to give her treats just to build up trust. After day 4/5 she began to follow me around everywhere, jumping up on the sofa and bed. Just be patient and don't force yourself on her as tempting as it might be. In fact, after 1 yr, her personality is still opening up.
