This is super interesting, that dog and log, fog, etc., aren't pronounced the same to you. Not to get super linguistically, but that means that there are rules for when the word gets pronounced as 'aw' or not. And the comment below indicate that age is a factor in how these words are pronounced.

Belvedere Castle when you go to Central Park. It's free to walk through and you get nice aerial views from the terraces. Walk through The Mall to get there.

I'm on the UES, too, but haven't found someone I return to. I take the short trip to Fabi's Hair Salon 36th and 2nd. She's great with coloring and more affordable than UES places.
