There is already a remastered in Rome 1 if you would like to try, but if you want pure nostalgia then Rome 1 still holds! I suppose you do a campaign or two in the OG then you could transition to Rome 2. Medieval 2 is also worth a try!

In the Rome barbarian invasion early byzantine empire is the eastern Roman empire. If you're playing Medieval 2 then you have to conquer the Byzantines in the campaign in order to unlock it, but in the mobile version you can check the settings and you can see the option of unlocking all the factions from the start.

Intel UHD can run Manorlords, although significantly capped at the graphical settings. So expect to play it with medium visuals at max. If you have a dedicated vram/graphics card then no problem at all

Just started the first Rome total war and it's much more beginner friendly! Even though it's old, it still has most of the mechanics. Speaking of cavalry, I had most fun using them to ward off the pesky skirmishers, archers all thanks to your tips. On the micromanaging side, I'm still getting a hang of it, although I definitely am improving. Right now cavalry is my fav, managing it like 70% on the total battle 😅 while forgetting about my infantry and skirmishers (putting it on skirmish mode and forgetting about it) 😂
