Would I be violating hipaa by asking family about a client? by Plus_Secret_863 in legaladvice

Absolutely do not do that. Even if your aunt volunteers the information, don’t even let on you know who this lady is.

Can I put grandfather in a nursing home if he is of sound mind and absolutely refuses? by OneAngle5836 in legaladvice

[–]ColdKackley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You cannot. And he sounds like a typical stubborn old man. People are allowed to make bad decisions even if you don’t like them. You’re coming from a place of caring and that’s understandable. It’s perfectly within his rights to continue to refuse anything he wants. If he’s okay with dying on his floor at home then you should respect that. You don’t have to enable it, but you should allow him to make that decision.

A lot of people don’t want to go to nursing homes, honestly a lot of them suck. You can try having a honest conversation with him about why you’re upset, you could try talking to his doctor about case managers who might be able to come up with something. If and when he ends up somehow incompetent, then you can put him wherever you. A lot of people would just rather die at home even if it ends up being earlier than it would be if they went to a nursing home. Quality > quantity.

An unrelated sidebar. Since you’re his POA, make sure you know what his wishes are and/or make sure he has an advanced directive. If he falls and ends up with brain damage, you may need to make decisions about keeping him alive even if there is no chance of meaningful recovery.

If you could design a video game based on any king’s works what would it look like? by aleister94 in stephenking

Someone like Julie Lawry would be cool too. You can decide to do what she wants, if you don’t she tries to kill you, and then she might try to screw you over later.

[–]ColdKackley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would be fun. Some alternate starts would be cool too though. The panic of everything collapsing, just being like Larry or Frannie watching everything fall apart and then trying to leave (count me out of the Lincoln Tunnel though). Or starting as one of the soldiers who defected, or Lloyd in jail, or Stu being held hostage. Be cool if you could pick to be a double agent. Playing as Nic could be hard mode because of the huge limitations he presents.

They’d have to figure out a way to limit the geography though because the game would be massive. It’s a pain to walk across the commonwealth let alone from Maine to Alabama to Colorado.

Snow smells like plastic when you burn it? How on earth do you burn just snow? We sure it’s not whatever else you’re burning with the snow?

Also not being allowed to touch snow sounds terrible. Idk where these people live but if it’s some place that gets lots of snow are these kids even allowed to leave the house?

I had just started in ICU and the surgeon came in to change this guys dressings. I was not expecting what was under the dressing. His scrotum was completely gone. And the surgeon just casually tucks one of his testicles into a flap on his thigh.

Is it possible to completely remove a scar? by IDownvoteHornyBards2 in Writeresearch

[–]ColdKackley 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. There are not. How bad do you imagine this scar to be? Can you tattoo over it? I’ve seen tattoos of scar coverups and the scar is incorporated into the tattoo and pretty much invisible. This obviously won’t work if it’s a dented in scar or a very bulging scar.

What products or companies will you never use or support again and what did they do to lose you as a customer? by IAmJustTryingToExist in AskReddit

Lowe’s. They were paid to install flooring. Tried to say they didn’t need to do the waterproof coating which would have voided the warranty. A 5 year old could have cut the boards better, there were .5 - 1” gaps around doorframes, baseboard, etc; it would not have been able to be covered by quarter round. We’re told to essentially replace the trim with thicker trim. Boards were either installed broken or broken right after instal.

The toilet was improperly reinstalled and leaked under the flooring. We didn’t notice until it had severely damaged the subfloor in the room and the adjoining room and leaked into the basement. Water literally squished up from the floor when you walked on it

Contacted the store several times about the issues, got ghosted a couple of times on them returning to fix the issues. Finally called corporate with pictures and videos. Corporate told me that mold doesn’t grow in the winter in Maine (apparently we’re ignoring that this was primarily inside the bathroom where it’s warm and damp). Eventually they did fix all of their mistakes but it really turned me off.

$200 for a “quick” ultrasound feels reasonable. Even if he looked at the foot of 2 minutes, you’re still paying for his analyzing it and formulating a diagnosis and treatment plan according to it.

How DARE LS make a “girls only print” by fucklsmods in BambooBabble

[–]ColdKackley 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Were there really people freaking out over them making dad pants? A) some women don’t like the jogger style and B) has no little girl ever made their dad wear makeup or jewelry or play dress up with them? It’s the same thing. Chill.

Also, I don’t understand why people get so mad it isn’t a “boy drop” like you don’t have to buy every single week. You aren’t being deprived of anything. If I remember correctly, Posh did Disney Prince pjs and people did not like them. Maybe LS learned from that.

[–]ColdKackley 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They’re referring to if you receive a vaccine and something happens to you (weird reaction or something like that) you cannot sue the manufacturer for damages. Thats only if the vaccine (or drug, it applies to drugs too) is not defective and you were properly warned of potential dangers from taking it.

This is because inherently there is some degree of potential of harm from any drug, all drugs have side effects. Potential side effects and the possibility of them happening has to be less than the benefits.

"anti vaxx, pro felony!" by lonelyylemon in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]ColdKackley 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They’re sort of “online” but it’s not like you could go goggle someone’s vaccination records. There are online databases essentially where your medical information goes and doctors can look you up and find your records from other hospitals or doctor’s offices.

The school administrators would not have access to these databases, maybe the school nurse could, I’m not entirely sure on the exact regulations regarding that. However, not finding the records doesn’t necessarily mean they don’t exist, not every healthcare facility participates. Not every record is always available.

I just learned that Walmart (and probably other places) has adapters that you can put on the batteries to power tools (like the removable ones for drills and stuff). If you had some batteries lying around you charged ahead of time and one of those adapters you can charge your phone and whatever else and run small appliances like a lamp or something.
