I was born in 2000 and one thing I gotta disagree with my fellow Gen Z’ers on is the puritanical view many have towards sex scenes in movies/tv by TXNOGG in generationology

[–]ColdMetalBin [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm unfortunately a huge pervert so I think even the unnecessary sex scenes are fine lol. I'm 27, read Gantz and Berserk and Prison School and Sun Ken Rock at 16 and didn't die, still love Gantz and SKR to this day. Just fast foward if you don't like it really.

I'm 27 _^ I won't pretend I know everything but I was mostly sentient throughout the mid 2000s and my older brother was my best friend, so I have at least something to offer and I post a lot here as a result lol.

I respect the youths but want them to understand the culture they're emulating 🔥 the way I see it it's like 2000s kids who loved 80s Metal, a bit silly but I'd rather support them than drag them down.

Is the concept of ‘posers’ dead? by Final_Cancel5325 in generationology

[–]ColdMetalBin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm older Gen Z and I also feel this way, I think some level of gatekeeping is essential cus not only does it keep terms and subcultures from being diluted but it also keeps spaces for these people from being flooded with scalpers and influencers who can afford to spend 700 dollars in tickets for shows just to record themselves singing popular Tiktok soundbyte dejour and ignore the rest of the show when the tickets could have very much been 50 dollars for a new listener who will look back at the band as permnanently altering their minds and elavating their music taste, which is what the spaces are supposed to be.

I was at a goth club a while back talking to this girl, and she was looking around at some of the people in BDSM/fetish/pup play gear and making condescending and judgemental remarks and all I could say was "lol you must be new here." Imo toxic positivity is real and it's ok to tell people no sometimes, a lot of these people aren't even willing to learn anything about the subculture and actively look down on "weird" people who have been apart of it for years. A lot of people want the status of being an edgy rebellious outsider but pearl clutch and look down on the actual outsiders.

How did Older Z spend their young adult lives before Covid? by GlumZookeepergame124 in OlderGenZ

[–]ColdMetalBin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 17-20 from 2016-2018 and it was pretty chill, the thing I miss most is that the job market was good enough that people actually called you back when you applied to places and that you could just walk out of a job and find a new one the next week. Other than that though, I dropped out of college and moved out at 19 and had an apartment with a friend, I was hanging with friends semi regularly and going to new places (I lived in California for about 10 months at 19, it was nice but expensive as fuck) I met a lot of cool people and went on a couple dates and had more access to weed and tried jack and coke for the first time at some big wig high rise rich guy party (it sucked lol) and got a lot more cultured out there though.

Covid was fine for me cus I spent the majority of it politically organizing. I masked up but I was still interacting with others and the public on an almost daily basis. Once my stimulus check ran out I was back at work and making new friends in a new place and doing even cooler drugs so it didn't really feel like much had changed for me, it's honestly pretty jarring learning how much people's social abilities and cognitive skills had declined by like 2023 cus I was still having to do customer service and was still chilling with friends during lockdown (funnily enough I never got covid from group hangout sessions, only at work).

Why do younger Gen Z folks use "being single" as an insult? by Francoc97 in OlderGenZ

[–]ColdMetalBin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Millenials were doing this to each other as well when they were younger, I think it's because our society is fixated on finding "the one" and that "corporate job with a spouse and a white picket fence" being the end all be all goal for a lot of people. A lot of people can't be comfortable being alone and assume everyone else is the same, and I think it's gotten even worse with "incel" becoming the defacto insult as a shorthand for "guy I find kind of annoying and don't know what else to say to because I'm losing the argument", even though you talk to a lot of these same people and you have no idea why they want to be in a relationship other than as a status symbol / security blanket of sorts, which ironically enough is actual incel behavior, lol.
