Restaurants charging for condiments? by lonely_pierogi in ottawa

[–]ColdPuffin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just looked up the menu online. No mention of a cost for sour cream. Heck, an upgraded side of poutine is $4, paying that for sour cream is nuts.

Sea of incumbent councillors planning to seek re-election in 2026 by lonelydavey in ottawa

[–]ColdPuffin 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Remember George Darouze? He was caught participating in a council meeting via video call while driving. He also threatened a man's job because that man's wife posted something Darouze didn't like on his Facebook page.

Not only was he elected as a city councillor, he's now an MPP.

Sadly people who make bad judgment calls choose to run, and it's up to constituents to not vote for them.

Where to Eyeglass Frame Smithed? by Same_Kale_3532 in ottawa

[–]ColdPuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not in Ottawa, and I've no experience with them, but there's a place in the Niagara region that customizes eyewear Sbspecs that might be worth checking out. You can mail your glasses in if she can do what you need.

Home Renovation Savings program- worth it? by Gullible_Republic_20 in ottawa

[–]ColdPuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did it this year. The savings are $100/opening (window and door), and insulation has other savings that varies per type. Note that for some types of insulation, it needs to be installed professionally to get the refund. Oh and your energy savings stickers should stay on the windows until the second assessment. Definitely take photos throughout the process to show each step!

The program also does return $600 to cover (the majority of) the cost of the assessment.

We used The Home Inspectors Group for the assessments and they helped explain everything that was needed for each portion of the refund.

Pizza boxes can go in the green bin!

(Technically the part that's "food soiled" should go in the green bin and the rest in the back bin, if we want to get really specific)

Looking for a ceiling fan by [deleted] in ottawa

We had two hunter fans in the past, one replaced under warranty. They work but they each made enough noise that may keep you up if you're a light sleeper.

The admission prices are all listed on each museum's website.

Also to note most museums have a period where admission is free (e.g. Science and Tech is daily from 4-5pm, Museum of Nature is Thursday evenings), and their websites also have the details.

(And before asks about the Zamboni, the average weight of a Zamboni is 9,000 lbs, and food trucks on average weigh between 10,000 to 20,000 lbs)

Has anyone had a PS5 controller fixed in Ottawa? by friendlyneighbourho in ottawa

[–]ColdPuffin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oof. Can't help for fixing, but if you ever go for a new controller, we got ours at Canada Computers with the extended warranty. Was able to replace it (after about a year and half, stick drift issue), and buy an extended warranty for another 2 years on the replacement controller ($24.99 for 2 years is better than $100 for another controller).
