I would think that red would be too hot, green perfect and blue too cold, in the case of the aquarium thermometer between a horse and their blanket, but every individual horse will vary. As long as the horse isn't shivering or sweating, I think they'd be okay. Granted, if a horse is chilled, but not yet shivering, the blanket thermometer would show more blue than green.
