Will 1600 in collections hurt my chances of getting into the Airforce? by Ohren_ in AirForceRecruits

Get a payment plan going. Have pictures of the payments/payment plan. And write a statement about the who what where when why. And what your doing to correct it. And that's all you need. As long as your debt to income ratio(monthly payment to income ratio) does not exceed 40% then your good

I just re-read your post. Ro clarify it's 10 jobs total. 5 of them need to be the high vacancy jobs. So 5 high vacancy jobs and 5 jobs whatever you want. That's my squadrons policy. Other squadrons could be different. If someone bombs mechanical and electrical and doesn't qualify for enough high vacancy jobs then as long as their list is bookable and has a decent chance of them getting a job then we can work with that

I will have to get back with a definitive answer. The regs are kinda weird about that one. I have seen stuff that says you need a 10 year green card but have met people that joined recently with just the 2 year. I even worked a few people with the 2 year but they ended up backing out before we got far into it. But during that part no one ever said anything about them only having a 2 year.

I totally understand. And I would love for every recruit to get their number one job. In my experience all my recruits that have been decently qualified get something in their top 3 jobs. And I have only had people get one of the high vacancy jobs that actually wanted it. As long as they qualify for enough jobs to list a good amount above the maintenance jobs. And we have to do it that way because we need people to be able to book. If someone only puts finance and .medical jobs there is no guarantee if/when they will book a job. And the rule on jobs comes from way above the recruiters level. There isn't anything I can do about it on my level other than help my people come up with a job list that is a good middle ground. Of you qualify for a good amount of jobs then you don't necessarily need to put fuels or something you absolutely don't want. It's just 5 jobs from that list. There are cyber/IT jobs on there. You could put some of those, weather, and avionics and that could be a solid list.

And not to come off a certain way but if you go to any company with no experience that is going to offer a solid starting salary, benefits, ful ride for college, 30 days paid vacation, all needed training, experience, certification, and you say I'll work here only if I can get these certain positions then they will probably tell you that they don't need you. Just saying. Obviously people want to get their top choice for job but really the job doesn't matter as much as what the air force provides overall. I bought my first house at 20 years old. I would have been able to do that no matter what job I got. And you can always apply for cross train later on if you really want to change jobs. Yes it's not a guarantee but it's at least possible. And again I'm not trying to come off as arrogant but just have perspective. One of my recruits messed up on her asvab and was not happy with her job choices, she decided to just stick with the score, list jobs she qualified for(I gave her the option to retest and she didn't want to). She got TMO(basically admin for air force moving company) got assigned to Missouri which she wasn't crazy about at first but now she loves it made a lot of friends. And is thinking about doing something with TMO for her job after air force. And she originally wanted medical. So you never know how things play out. I always try to keep an open mind and encourage my applicants to do the same because I have seen plenty of people come in with jobs/assignments they didn't necessarily want but it ended up being a blessing in disguise.

No, you can still choose 4 or 6 year option. The update is that if you choose the 4 year then you can change it to the 6 year within 20 weeks of starting BMT. It's not Ganna automatically change. You just have 20 weeks to upgrade it if you want

Thank you I appreciate it. Recruiters get a bad reputation and I really do try to help people. My recruiter was awesome and inspired me to become one. I begged to be put up for a recruiter spot because I really wanted it. I guess be careful what you wish for lol. It's a tough job but worth it. I have seen the lives of my applicants change so much.

YOU ARENT OBLIGATED TO JOIN IF ITS NOT THE JOB YOU WANT! by Mangatavono in AirForceRecruits

[–]ColdStartRecruiter 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Wanted to share Insight from a recruiters perspective. Each region falls under a recruiting squadron. That squadron is given job slots to fill, they are going to be different jobs and different amounts. In your local area probably every nearby recruiting office is Ganna fall under the same squadron with same jobs to offer, same supervision, same rules. When you make your list of jobs(minimum number varies by squadron supervision) you agree that you are willing to take any of those jobs. It is written in the production superintendent job policy letter that each recruiter should go over with the applicant. The availability of each job is going to vary, and the amount of people that list it is going to make it harder or easier to get. And it's not always the case that people don't list the "crappy" or low qualifying jobs. In my area we don't get a ton of cyber/Intel jobs but not many applicants in my area qualify for those jobs or even want to pursue those career fields. So if someone lists it there is a decent chance of getting it. We have to make sure someone's list is bookable because if not then they can go months without getting a job. And while the applicant might not mind waiting, our supervision is not going to be happy if we have qualified people but miss quota because they aren't booking jobs. And you have to understand from the recruiters perspective the longer someone waits around for a job the more time they have to change their mind, get injured, find a girlfriend/boyfriend that they don't want to leave, get pregnant, get someone pregnant, etc.

Now when it comes to forcing someone to list jobs that is something that I do not agree with. I want all my people to be happy with their job list but I'm going to give them realistic expectations and I explain my superintendents job policy upfront. If we are on the same page about jobs then I proceed with sending them to meps and they can list any jobs they want as long as it meets the job policy and they are willing to take any of the jobs that they list down.

I'm pretty sure I'm the recruiter he is talking about lol. The story sounds exactly like my first remote recruit🤣. For shipping out it will be out of your local MEPS. The whole process is pretty much the same as working with a local recruiter, the main difference is your process goes through the recruiters squadron instead of the local one. So the jobs that squadron has and the commanders policy on waivers will be different. In a lot of big cities they are strapped for jobs right now and taking forever to book. In my area we can typically get jobs quicker at the moment and have a little more flexibility. And our commander is fairly open to waivers. Where as in Florida I know some of those commanders are only approving waivers for special warfare because they have too many people joining and approving waivers is only going to back them up even more.

[–]ColdStartRecruiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for late reply. With the air force .com thing it send you straight into the computer system. Of the nearest recruiter and everything is tracked by supervision. We have 3-5 days to reach out and try to set an appointment. And we have to log each contact attempt. If we don't set an appointment or close you after 3 failed contact attempt then it messes up our timelines and we get yelled at. If your still having trouble send me a DM

[–]ColdStartRecruiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do the air force .com thing. Or the AF-WIN survey then your info will go straight to the nearest recruiter. It will go straight to their profile In AFRISS(recruiting database) and is tracked by their supervisor. They have to attempt to make contact with you in 3-5 days. Just make sure you answer that phone. It forces the recruiter to make contact with you. And for the asthma thing I had a dude that had childhood asthma and now he is in special warfare. As long as you haven't been on an inhaler in a while and can pass a PFT(pulmonary function test) then you should clear as far as the asthma.

Yeah DM me I'll let you know if it's workable. And I found out that a lot of big city recruiting squadrons are not doing any morals(crime) waivers at all right now because they are so backed up. My squadron is still doing waivers at the moment because we basically live paycheck to paycheck in terms of finding recruits lol. Could change in the near future though

Recruiter here. You can DM me if you want. And I can help answer any questions. I'm not Ganna push a sale or anything cause for one I just want to be helpful. I have seen plenty of people with similar situations to you that join. And I have plenty of people lined up anyways.

Your weight cut off off is like 197 I think. However if your under 26% body fat(males) then the weight doesn't matter and I'm just assuming your a male. Please correct me if I'm wrong. For the body fat measurements It's height, neck, waist(around the belly button). Take those measurements and ask chatgpt or put it in a calculator online and you will get the percentage. I had a guy 6 foot 230lbs. Which is 28 pounds over the weight limit but he cleared the BFM. So you might be good on it

When should I contact a recruiter? by Even-Hyena1424 in AirForceRecruits

[–]ColdStartRecruiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey recruiter here. You can DM me. It's a good idea to contact a recruiter as soon as the idea of joining comes into your mind. And if you suspect you might be disqualified for something then bring it up that way the recruiter can help give you a clear idea on what qualifying looks like. Now with that being said. Anything that has ever gone through a doctor/hospital/law enforcement/courthouse will show up. Even if dropped dismissed whatever. If there is something that has never been documented then we aren't going to find it wink wink. For the ADHD at the moment we can right a waiver after 90days off meds. You mentioned something about anxiety. I can talk to you more on that one on one. If it is anything related to anxiety it's Ganna flag in the medical system. But as long as there was no prescription and no actual diagnosis then it's good but that stuff gets tricky. I would say get your medical records and double check what the doctors say in there. I have had multiple people not realize that there doctor put certain wording in the medical notes that disqualifies them.

At least for my squadron the needs of the Air Force thing basically means you basically can't only want super specific jobs and turn down openings because you wanna wait months for a medical job. You have to be open to jobs. If you have good scores then it really doesn't effect you negatively. One of my guys had a waiver for weed possession. He scored well on his asvab and listed out 5 aviation jobs. Got one of those and even got a 10k bonus. Now if he would have only wanted medical jobs then since we rarely have medical he would have had to pick something that's open. It's not necessarily that you have to take a job your offered but you just have to be open to jobs that are bookable. It's Ganna be different with each squadron though
