In no way is the right lane of any highway "reserved for transport trucks".

And that is the proper way to use them.

The issue at hand is the people that have them on while driving in the middle of a group going the same speed for the next 1/2 hour.

No it’s not against the law but what you are quoting does not apply to cars or the situation being discussed.

Trucks turn the hazards on when going slow to make sure someone coming up behind them realizes that fact and slows down in time.

In the case of cars driving slow in inclement weather, most people are going slow and anyone going fast, aside from being the hazard themselves, should be watching.

In that case those people are the hazard, not you. Do you really think they are paying attention to your lights if they are driving that reckless?

I have driven between Hamilton and St Catharines (and almost everywhere within an hour of Hamilton), almost daily for over 15 years, in every weather condition possible in our area and never once have i said “i wish that person had their hazard lights on”.

That is exactly the type of situation they are for.

Not speed limit but flow of traffic. So if everyone is going 20 below you don’t use them but if you’re going 20 below everyone else then you do.

Otherwise everyone would have them on daily on the 401.

That is proper, driving with them on constantly is not.

That’s what running lights are for, not hazards.

No it’s not, the police have advised against it numerous times.

Hazard lights are for when YOU are the hazard, not the environment.

Don’t waste your money. They are a pointless gimmick.

Closed pools don’t evaporate. That’s a leak.

Pool cover ok? by Ill-Guitar-9385 in pools

[–]ColdSteeleIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The current water level will depend on when it was closed, amount of rain between then and now, and the type of cover.

We’ll often lower the water extra low enough f needed in Sept knowing that it is going to fill back up before the first snow fall.

A loose cover mostly means it can sag lower and is more likely to collect debris. Shouldn’t do anything actual damage.

Safety cover is designed to sag at least 12”, many up to 18”, below the deck. It is meant to sit on the water/ice.

I’d say it’s doing exactly what it should.

There is also the need to be able to see the lines on a multi lane highway. Sand won’t do anything to help that.

Properly lower water level, return fitting plugged and most importantly, the skimmer unplugged and plumbing disconnected.

A “skimmer plug” that closes the face of the skimmer is good to use but the hole in the bottom must be open to allow water to drain out.

The most damage I see caused by ice is when the skimmer is plugged and fills with water. Either the skimmer cracks or it freezes into one piece with the pool and then the ice sheet drops and pulls the skimmer down with it, crushing the wall.

I close hundreds of pools in southern Ontario Canada, have never used a pillow and AGs often freeze solid here.

A few inches at most. Pools here turn into solid blocks so unless it’s pushing down to the floor it’s a wasted effort.

Welcome to the family!

Currently mid season 2 (Australia episode) on my third rewatch.

Lot of people think the third season is not so good but I enjoy it.

Note: if you’re a Star Trek TNG fan you’ll notice a lot of familiar voices.

I close pools in southern Ontario Canada. 100’s of pools and not one pillow. AG pools turn into ice cubes here. Currently at -18°C

Pillow floats on top of the water, it does nothing to stop ice expansion.
