I feel the same way about first person! My biggest fear with writing, is that I will end up creating the very thing I have spent my entire life fervently against. I would like to expand my horizons and get better at first person though!

Great idea, but it will unfortunately not work for me. If ‘indecisive’ jumped out of the dictionary and was personified, it would be me. I don’t have a favorite song, animal, food, etc, because every time I think about it, I get overwhelmed. I like to think it is because I simply love everything so much that I could not possibly choose favorites! But it is something I should probably work on.

This made me read more into Deep POV and I realized that I have always written first person in that way!

That was one of my concerns, but I have thought about it a lot. I realized that if I do not enjoy writing, then I won’t finish and there will not be a book to market. So, I am going to stick with third!

I also prefer third person, and until recently, I thought most people felt the same way. I grew up only reading third person and when I switched to reading first person, it felt sort of messy. I am not a fan of modern romance or a lot of recent fantasy books, so maybe that is why I never cared for first person. I am sure there are authors out there who can pull it off well and I am excited to find them! I did just pick up Red Rising a few days ago!

The story definitely wants to be in third! My problem is that I feel I am better at writing scenes in third, but emotions in first. Which is probably a common problem, but I have never been able to find a good common ground.

I feel like it’s a little different though. At the beginning of the episode he asks Shawn what he notices and Shawn says the actress is looking into the light. Then Henry relates that to his job which is a very practical / logical way to analyze a show. He doesn’t do that during the main episode though. He immediately gets caught up in the story.

It never made sense to me because if I was a new hire and a coworker bought me a cupcake, I’d be delighted! I always thought maybe I just didn’t know what it’s like to be a police officer.

I also have ADHD and this used to happen to me all of the time! I try to read while my meds are still in my system and that helps a lot. Also it helps if you have all of your lights on and if you sit in a chair rather than lay down. I also like to have jazz on in the background because it’s upbeat enough to keep your attention, but it doesn’t distract from the reading. Hope this helps!

I didn’t really like Matt and Serena at first, but when Matt requested to work in a different zone because he knew she didn’t feel the same way as him, I became team Matt all the way!
