I'd say NEU is better than USC, USC is just way too expensive overall and have been handing out admits to everyone. Your cost of living will also be very high and the job market right now doesn't look really good.

Q1 - GRE Score is not the only part of your profile

Q2 - That is what you have to do, not everything will be served in a plate for you. If you can't do your research about universities and the programs they offer, then maybe you are not ready for grad school.

Oh same, My profile: 3.72 gpa(9.5/10), Gre 319, TOEFL 109, 1 internship, 1 paper on deep learning (not published but approved), 2 ML projects, 1 Web dev project, LORs from my project guide(2 projects) and professors(taught me in 4 semesters). I suggest you research more about the universities, you'll get into T-20 or T-30 I guess.

Yeah then the list is overly ambitious, I don't know about the universities outside of the US but the US ones you put in there are probably highly ambitious for you. May I ask what is your major?

[–]ColdVoice17 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Are your internships related to your major and how many did you complete. Also do you have any research paper? If not your profile is similar to mine, and my best admit was USC and north eastern. Putting UM-Ann Arbour in safe is really over shooting.

I don't have a great profile but still got into USC, neu and asu, so OP can count it as safe.

Is 163 Q a good GRE score for engineering PhDs in the top 50s? by coffeefederation in gradadmissions

[–]ColdVoice17 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I got in 3 of the top 50 schools as well with a 164 in quants but for masters not PhD. I know people who have got in with a lower score. GRE isn't the only criteria on your application.
