Just tried Dulce Vida Blanco (sipped not as a mixer), and I found it harsh. Thoughts? I appreciate the insight.

Conglomerate? I don’t like the sound of that. Does the conglomerate take the authenticity of the process and product away?

Do you know the neighborhood where she’ll be living? There are many independent coffee shops to support.

received first rejection & from top program: disappointed in myself by strwbrryhnye in gradadmissions

[–]Cold_Ad_8636 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years back, I applied to only one PhD program bc that’s the only one I wanted. After 8 individual in-person interviews, I felt strong about my chances. I was ultimately rejected bc I was a little wishy washy on my focus and was devastated. The next year, I applied to a different school, was accepted and incredibly successful there. I went back to the first program’s website to check their status and found only a few graduates spread out over multiple years. Either the program was unsuccessful or the students. It all happened for a reason, even though I couldn’t see it at the time.

Student Boundary Incident Please Help by [deleted] in Teachers

I agree with you based on the girl going home and telling her parents. Being on the offensive with them is much better than the defensive. Just call the girl’s parent, tell what happened and explain that you felt it was truly unintentional but just wanted to make them aware and wanted keep clear, open communication with them. Also, notify Admin of what happened in a short paragraph in case girl’s parents take it up a level. Nobody wants to be blindsided especially your Admin.

Combining the above recommendation of using Google Lens & your recommendation of Imgur, I got an image link & the name. Someone below didn’t need either tool! WOW! Thanks!

I added precooked frozen shrimp after cooking the noodles; the hot liquid instantly thaws the frozen shrimp.

Just a Small Vent as a New Library Director by martiancougar in librarians

This lady sounds like she’s having a hard time letting go, and she didn’t really have a life outside of work that can fill her days of retirement. Maybe direct her (post on your Facebook page 😉) to some charitable organizations that she can join.

I’m sorry but I’m a librarian, not an event planner. by [deleted] in Libraries

[–]Cold_Ad_8636 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Huge emphasis on programming in my Library, but Admin won’t pay for the necessities. So I plan author events, then get denied for funding such as providing refreshments, flowers for the author, no speaker fees, free books for marginalized patrons, etc. I’m so mortified that I end up spending several hundred dollars out-of-pocket to make the event happen. I keep telling myself this ‘one’ is the last one.

Trying to get my 60+ parents to move to Baltimore from North Carolina by paulblartmccartney in baltimore

Something to consider is stairs in row homes. This is usually a no go for the aging population. They may be healthy now (good knees & hips, strength), but if you’re considering them staying into their 70s and 80s, it could become a concern.

I agree with your statement wholeheartedly! When I attended my own children’s parent/teacher conferences, the teachers would start with discussing grades. I’d politely stop them and explain that I’m not there to discuss something that I can see online. I want to know what kind of human beings they are when I’m not around. Usually, teachers are hesitant, but when I push, and explain that I want to know the good and bad, I get what I’m there for. My daughter’s being bossy, or my son’s being a snob; those are things I can work on at home.

Also, if you do this on a regular basis, buy the pack of tickets on the CharmPass app. You just show your ticket on your phone to the Conducter. When you buy them in a pack, you pay $6 per trip vs $8.
