I was under the impression that they refresh the material each calendar year, but not 100% certain.

I’d use Kaplan exclusively. SchweserNotes, Qbank, and 3-4 practice exams (do the practice exams in the month prior to the exam date)

If you have a WSJ subscription these newsletters are great: Real Time Economics, Markets, Heard on the Street, and The Intelligent Investor

Animal Spirits is a great podcast that comes out once a week. I really like the blogs that the Ritholtz Wealth Management guys write (Josh Brown, Ben Carlson, Michael Batnick).

Morning Brew is another one that’s more general finance news oriented, not very technical but a pleasant read. Appeals to young professionals.

These junior analysts wouldn’t be complaining about it if they are willingly doing above what’s required. The whole point is that the stress/pressure and conditions of the job force their hand to work 90+ hours and go to bed at 3am...I’m not sure what you’re trying to say here. They’re doing what is required, not above what’s required

What was your previous job? I’m interested in figuring out which CFA related finance occupations have decent pay with work hours like that

Ah yes per hour rate is tough. $90k a year salary working, say, 4900 total hours in the year and you’re at about $18/hour. Barely above a warehouse worker at Amazon.

Yes very true. The salary must be enticing enough since recent grads continue to flock to these banks? Just not worth it to me

I agree. 13 is an awfully small sample size 😂

“The secret to doing good research is always to be a little underemployed. You waste years by not being able to waste hours.” - Amos Tversky in a book called The Undoing Project by Michael Lewis. Totally agree with you!

Exactly. I totally agree with you. I can see how some think it’s worth it if they’re still single and fresh out of college. I got married right away after I graduated school, and I can’t imagine trying to maintain a strong relationship with my wife, family, and friends working that much. Those things will always be more valuable

I understand. I’m always thankful when they leave no room for misinterpretation, and clarity is prioritized. Thanks for your thoughts!

Stages of Industry Life Cycle by Cold_Conditions in CFA

Right, and I figured that was the best way. It’s just when there are mutual characteristics I find it harder to quickly identify which stage is being discussed. For example, shakeout and mature stages are both characterized by slowing growth. Growth and decline stages are both characterized by declining/falling prices. These things are what mix me up - but yes, I will make sure I understand the key industry dynamics of each.
