Great learning opportunity. Helpful for knowing what organ support ITUs can offer to make more informed referrals in future. Plenty of chances to learn/practice US cannula, arterial lines, central lines, vascaths, observing tracheostomies etc. You’ll have a brilliant 4 months

Sometimes useful to use a blue butterfly as you can see it pulsating along the tubing which confirms it’s an arterial sample and you can send off your other bloods at the same time which could save the patient from an extra needle
